Abstract
Embodiments of the present disclosure include techniques for optimization on downloading/streaming activities of media and/or other files (e.g., on a local client, or a local proxy on a mobile device). An example of such downloading/streaming is a user accessing media content including video and/or audio content using a mobile device such as a smart phone, a tablet, or a “phablet,” etc.

1 . A method of adaptive media file optimization comprising:
detecting one or more requests for downloading or streaming portions of a media file; acquiring information specific to a user of a client device; selectively adjusting the one or more requests based on the acquired information; and selectively caching the one or more downloaded portions of the media file based on the acquired information.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein detecting one or more requests is performed on the client device.
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein acquiring information includes acquiring operation parameters that are specific to the client device.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein selectively adjusting includes revising a download size of the one or more requests.
5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein selectively adjusting includes revising a streaming quality of the one or more requests.
6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein selectively adjusting includes suspending the one or more requests.
7 . The method of claim 6 , wherein selectively adjusting includes resuming the one or more suspended requests.
8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein selectively adjusting includes combining the one or more requests.
9 . The method of claim 1 , wherein selectively adjusting includes dividing the one or more requests.
10 . The method of claim 1 , wherein selectively adjusting includes modifying a protocol of the one or more requests.
11 . The method of claim 1 , wherein acquiring information includes acquiring user behavior parameters.
12 . The method of claim 1 , including tracking media files accessed by the user of the client device.
13 . A mobile device having a memory and a communications module, the mobile device configured to:
detect one or more requests for downloading or streaming portions of a media file; acquire information specific to a user of a client device; selectively adjust the one or more requests based on the acquired information; and selectively cache the one or more downloaded portions of the media file based on the acquired information.
14 . The mobile device of claim 13 , wherein detecting one or more requests is performed on the client device.
15 . The mobile device of claim 13 , wherein acquiring information includes acquiring operation parameters that are specific to the client device.
16 . The mobile device of claim 13 , wherein selectively adjusting includes revising a download size of the one or more requests.
17 . The mobile device of claim 13 , wherein selectively adjusting includes revising a streaming quality of the one or more requests.
18 . The mobile device of claim 13 , wherein selectively adjusting includes suspending the one or more requests.
