Interest-Based System

Abstract

Various embodiments described herein relate to automatically associating and disassociating interests to a user. In some embodiments, an event associated with an entity indicated as interesting to a user is recognized. A linked entity that is related to the event is identified. The linked entity is automatically associated with the user. Content related to the entity indicated as interesting and content related to the linked entity are provided at about the occurrence of the event. The linked entity is automatically disassociated with the user upon the occurrence of the event.

1 . A computer-implemented method comprising:
 associating a first interest with a user, wherein content related to the first interest is provided to the user;   recognizing an event associated with the first interest;   based on a second interest being related to the event, temporarily associating the second interest with the user, wherein content related to the first interest and content related to the second interest are provided to the user at or near an occurrence of the event; and   disassociating the second interest from the user at a time after completion of the event.   
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the first interest comprises an indication of an organization, a business, or an educational institution, or a portion thereof. 
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the event associated with the first interest is recognized based on event data provided within an electronic calendar, a world wide web, or a data feed. 
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 1  further comprising identifying the second interest being related to the event. 
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 4 , wherein the second interest being related to the event is identified based on event data or web crawled data. 
     
     
         6 . The method of  claim 4 , wherein the second interest being related to the event is identified using a hierarchical structure or a recommendation. 
     
     
         7 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the content related to the first interest and the content related to the second interest comprise one or more of social posts and news articles. 
     
     
         8 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the content related to the first interest and the content related to the second interest comprise one or more social posts related to an entity or handle associated with the first interest or the second interest. 
     
     
         9 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the second interest is temporarily associated with the user at a time relative to the occurrence of the event. 
     
     
         10 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the second interest is disassociated with the user at a time relative to completion of the event. 
     
     
         11 . The method of  claim 1  further comprising providing a confirmation request to request a confirmation to temporarily associate the second interest with the user. 
     
     
         12 . A computer-implemented method comprising:
 associating a first handle with a user, wherein one or more social posts related to the first handle are provided to the user, and wherein the first handle corresponds with a first entity;   recognizing an event associated with the first entity;   based on a second entity being related to the event, temporarily associating a second handle with the user, the second handle corresponding with the second entity, wherein social posts related to the first handle and social posts related to the second handle are provided to the user at or near an occurrence of the event; and   disassociating the second handle from the user at a time after completion of the event.   
     
     
         13 . The method of  claim 12 , wherein the first entity comprises an organization, a business, or an educational institution. 
     
     
         14 . The method of  claim 12 , wherein the second handle is disassociated from the user upon completion of the event. 
     
     
         15 . The method of  claim 12 , wherein the time after completion of the event is a predetermined time duration after completion of the event. 
     
     
         16 . The method of  claim 12 , wherein the second handle is disassociated from the user based on a quantity or a relevance of the social posts related to the second handle. 
     
     
         17 . The method of  claim 12 , wherein social posts related to the second handle are discontinued from being provided to the user based on the disassociation of the second handle from the user. 
     
     
         18 . A computer-implemented method comprising:
 associating a first interest with a user, wherein content related to the first interest is provided to the user;   recognizing a second interest associated with the first interest based on an increase in content related to both the first interest and the second interest;   based on the second interest being associated with the first interest, temporarily associating the second interest with the user, wherein content related to the first interest and content related to the second interest are provided to the user during the increase in the content related to both the first interest and the second interest; and   automatically disassociating the second interest from the user based on a decrease in content related to both the first interest and the second interest.   
     
     
         19 . The method of  claim 18 , wherein the first interest an organization, a business, a subject, a topic, a category, a hobby, or an individual. 
     
     
         20 . The method of  claim 18 , wherein the content comprises social posts, news posts, or a combination thereof.
