Abstract
A system and method for attaching a deck to a structure. The system includes at least one attachment plate provided with at least one fastening component. The fastening component is fastened to the structure ledger and extends into the end face of the structure floor support.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A deck attachment system for attaching a deck having a deck joist and a deck ledger to a structure having a structure ledger, comprising:
at least one attachment plate with one or more fastener holes; a structure floor support; at least one fastening component oriented so as to be capable of attaching the attachment plate to at least one of the deck ledger, the structure ledger and the structure floor support; and at least one connecting component capable of connecting the attachment plate to at least a portion of the deck joist, wherein the at least one fastening component is fastened directly into an end face of the structure floor support.
2 . The deck attachment system according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one attachment plate is directly attached to the structure ledger.
3 . The deck attachment system according to claim 1 , wherein the one or more attachment plates is directly attached to the deck ledger.
4 . The deck attachment system according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one attachment plate comprises a first attachment plate and a second attachment plate, and wherein the at least one fastening component comprises a first fastening component and a second fastening component,
wherein the at least one first attachment plate is directly attached to the deck ledger and includes the at least one first fastening component extending into the structure floor support, and wherein the at least one second attachment plate is directly attached to the house ledger and includes the at least one second fastening component extending into the deck ledger, wherein the connecting component is connected to the second attachment plate at one end and extends into the deck joist.
5 . The deck attachment system according to claim 1 , wherein the end face of the structure floor support is an end grain of the structure floor support.
6 . The deck attachment system according to claim 1 , wherein the connecting component is a threaded rod.
7 . The deck attachment system according to claim 6 , wherein the threaded rod is fixed at one end by a nut, and extends at an other end onto the deck joist.
8 . The deck attachment system according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one fastening component is a lag screw.
9 . The deck attachment system according to claim 1 , wherein the attachment plate is an angled attachment plate comprising a first portion and a second portion, the first portion being capable of being attached to the deck ledger, and the second portion being capable of being connected to the deck joist by means of one or more screws,
wherein the connecting component comprises at least one of the second portion of the angled attachment plate and the one or more screws.
10 . The deck attachment system according to claim 1 , wherein the one or more attachment plates is directly attached to the structure ledger.
11 . The deck attachment system according to claim 1 , wherein the one or more attachment plates is directly attached to the deck ledger.
12 . The deck attachment system according to claim 1 , further comprising:
a plurality of attachment plates,
wherein at least one of the plurality of attachment plates is disposed on the structure ledger, and at least one of the plurality of attachment plates is disposed on the deck ledger.
13 . The deck attachment system according to claim 12 , wherein attachment screws extending from the at least one of the plurality of attachment plates directly attached to the deck ledger extends to the structure ledger, thereby connecting the deck ledger to the structure ledger.
14 . The deck attachment system according to claim 1 , wherein the attachment plate is comprised of sheet metal.
15 . The deck attachment system according to claim 8 , wherein the at least one lag screw has a diameter of about ¼ inches to about ⅜ inches.
16 . The deck attachment system according to claim 1 , further comprising an I-joist, and wherein a plurality of attachment plates are provided, with each of the at least one attachment plates connected to a portion of the I-joist.
17 . A method for attaching a deck to a structure, comprising:
fastening an attachment plate to at least one of a structure ledger or a deck ledger by means of at least one fastening component; and connecting the attachment plate to a deck joist by means of a connecting component, wherein the at least one fastening component is fastened into an end face of the structure floor support.
18 . The method according to claim 17 , wherein the at least one fastening component is a lag screw.
19 . The method according to claim 17 , wherein the at least one lag screw is fastened in direct withdraw with respect to the attachment plate.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
