Abstract

A dampened tile is disclosed, providing comfort, sound deadening, and ease of installation and removal. The tile includes a porcelain tile and a flexible dampening material applied between the tile and an adjoining surface. The flexible dampening material can be a number of different polymer or foam materials. The flexible dampening material can be applied to a bottom of the tile, sides of the tile, and pre-applied to a substrate surface below the tile.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A dampened tile, comprising:
 a floor tile; and a flexible dampening material applied between the floor tile and an adjoining surface.

         2 . The dampened tile of claim 1 , wherein the flexible dampening material comprises a closed-cell foam.

         3 . The dampened tile of claim 1 , wherein the flexible dampening material comprises a rubberized layer.

         4 . The dampened tile of claim 1 , wherein the flexible dampening material comprises a polymerized spray on coating.

         5 . The dampened tile of claim 1 , wherein the flexible dampening material comprises a cross linked polyolefin foam.

         6 . The dampened tile of claim 1 , wherein the flexible dampening material comprises a sheet of dampening material applied to a substrate prior to the floor tile being applied to the substrate.

         7 . The dampened tile of claim 1 , wherein the flexible dampening material is directly adhered to a bottom surface of the floor tile.

         8 . The dampened tile of claim 7 , wherein the flexible dampening material is directly adhered to at least one thin side of the floor tile.

         9 . The dampened tile of claim 1 , wherein the flexible dampening material is directly adhered to at least one thin side of the floor tile.

         10 . A dampened tile system, the system comprising:
 a floor tile;   a flexible dampening material applied between the floor tile and a substrate surface;
       wherein the dampening materials provide flexible support of the floor tile.

         11 . The dampened tile system of claim 10 , wherein a dampening material is adhered directly to thin sides of the floor tile.

         12 . The dampened tile system of claim 11 , wherein a dampening material is adhered directly to a bottom side of the floor tile.

         13 . The dampened tile system of claim 10 , wherein a dampening material is adhered directly to a bottom side of the floor tile.

         14 . The dampened tile system of claim 13 , further comprising a sheet of dampening material applied directly to a substrate prior to the floor tile being applied to the substrate.

         15 . The dampened tile system of claim 10 , further comprising an adhesive to securely hold the floor tile to a substrate at a flooring transition to another floor surface.

         16 . The dampened tile system of claim 10 , wherein the floor tile comprises a porcelain tile.

         17 . The dampened tile system of claim 10 , wherein the floor tile comprises a ceramic tile.

         18 . The dampened tile system of claim 10 , wherein the system comprises a temporary flooring arrangement for a temporary commercial booth.

         19 . The dampened tile system of claim 10 , wherein the system comprises a temporary flooring arrangement for a residential application.

         20 . An encapsulated tile, comprising:
 a floor tile;   a flexible dampening material pre-applied to a bottom side of the floor tile and to four thin sides of the floor tile;
       wherein the dampening materials provide flexible support of the floor tile.
