Dynamic array presentation and multiple selection of digitally stored objects and corresponding link tokens for simultaneous presentation

Abstract

A system and method for the multiple selection of digitally stored objects and the link-tokens of each selected object for simultaneous presentation and examination of the selected objects with their associated linked objects and information, including organized array presentation for graphical thumbnails that represent the selected objects, as well as sub-framing, which allows intelligent partitioning of information associated with an object.

1 . A method performed by a server computer for presenting information for comparison regarding two or more selected items comprising:
 receiving, by the server computer from a user computer, a first search query relating to items of interest to a user;   sending, by the server computer to the user computer, a first webpage containing information regarding one or more items matching the first search query and, for each item, a corresponding graphical element by which the item may be selected;   receiving, by the server computer from the user computer, a selection of a first set of two or more items matching the search query;   sending, by the server computer to the user computer, a second webpage containing information about the first set of two or more selected items;   the information for each selected item being located in a section of the second webpage that does not overlap with the respective sections for other selected items, and   the respective information for each of the selected items including at least some information not displayed on the first webpage.   
     
     
         2 . The method according to  claim 1 , wherein the selection of two or more items matching the search query is sent from a user computer and received by a server computer. 
     
     
         3 . The method according to  claim 1 , further comprising:
 receiving via the second webpage, by the server computer from the user computer, a selection of a second set of two or more items matching a second search query;   sending, by the server computer to the user computer, a third webpage containing information about the second set of two or more selected items;   the information for each second-set selected item being located in a section of the third webpage that does not overlap with the respective sections for other selected items, and   the respective information for each of the second-set selected items including at least some information not displayed on the second webpage.   
     
     
         4 . The method according to  claim 1 , wherein the first and second webpages are displayed in respective first and second windows. 
     
     
         5 . A computer-readable medium including executable instructions that, when executed by a server computer, enable the server computer to perform a method of presenting information for comparison regarding two or more selected items comprising:
 receiving, by the server computer from a user computer, a first search query relating to items of interest to a user;   sending, by the server computer to the user computer, a first webpage containing information regarding one or more items matching the first search query and, for each item, a corresponding graphical element by which the item may be selected;   receiving, by the server computer from the user computer, a selection of a first set of two or more items matching the search query;   sending, by the server computer to the user computer, a second webpage containing information about the first set of two or more selected items;   the information for each selected item being located in a section of the second webpage that does not overlap with the respective sections for other selected items, and   the respective information for each of the selected items including at least some information not displayed on the first webpage.   
     
     
         6 . The computer-readable medium according to  claim 5 , wherein the selection of two or more items matching the search query is sent from a user computer and received by a server computer. 
     
     
         7 . The computer-readable medium according to  claim 5 , further comprising:
 receiving via the second webpage, by the server computer from the user computer, a selection of a second set of two or more items matching a second search query;   sending, by the server computer to the user computer, a third webpage containing information about the first set of two or more selected items;   the information for each second-set selected item being located in a section of the third webpage that does not overlap with the respective sections for other selected items, and   the respective information for each of the second-set selected items including at least some information not displayed on the second webpage.   
     
     
         8 . The computer-readable medium according to  claim 5 , wherein the first and second webpages are displayed in respective first and second windows. 
     
     
         9 . A method of transferring a computer program product from at least one first computer to at least one second computer connected to the at least one first computer through a communication medium, the method comprising the steps of:
 (a) accessing, on the at least one first computer, computer-executable instructions that, when executed by a processing device, enable the processing device to perform at least the steps of:   receiving, by the first computer from the second computer, a first search query relating to items of interest to a user;   sending, by the first computer to the second computer, a first webpage containing information regarding one or more items matching the first search query and, for each item, a corresponding graphical element by which the item may be selected;   receiving, by the first computer from the second computer, a selection of a first set of two or more items matching the search query;   sending, by the first computer to the second computer, a second webpage containing information about the first set of two or more selected items, wherein the information for each selected item is located in a section of the second webpage that does not overlap with the respective sections for other selected items, and the respective information for each of the selected items includes at least some information not displayed on the first webpage; and   (b) sending, by the first computer to the second computer through the communications medium computer executable instructions corresponding to a user-selected item.   
     
     
         10 . The method according to  claim 9 , wherein the selection of two or more items matching the search query is sent from a user computer and received by a server computer. 
     
     
         11 . The method according to  claim 9 , further comprising:
 receiving via the second webpage, by the first computer from the second computer, a selection of a second set of two or more items matching a second search query;   sending, by the first computer to the second computer, a third webpage containing information about the first set of two or more selected items;   the information for each second-set selected item being located in a section of the third webpage that does not overlap with the respective sections for other selected items, and   the respective information for each of the second-set selected items including at least some information not displayed on the second webpage.   
     
     
         12 . The method according to  claim 9 , wherein the first and second webpages are displayed in respective first and second windows. 
     
     
         13 . A system for presenting information for comparison regarding two or more selected items comprising:
 a server computer, including a processor, and   computer executable code stored in a memory accessible by the processor, the computer executable code executable by the processor;   the computer executable code being configured to:
 receive from a user computer a search query relating to items of interest to a user; 
 send to the user computer, a first webpage containing information regarding one or more items matching the search query and, for each item, a corresponding graphical element by which the item may be selected; 
 receive from the user computer a selection of two or more items matching the search query; and 
 send to the user computer, a second webpage containing information about the two or more selected items; wherein
 the information for each selected item being located in a section of the second webpage that does not overlap with the respective sections for other selected items, and 
 
   the respective information for each of the selected items includes at least some information not displayed on the first webpage.
