Abstract

A low emissivity and EMI shielding transparent composite film typically for use in association with window glazing and comprising a transparent film substrate having on one side thereof an underlayer of abrasion resistant hardcoat material with at least one infrared reflective layer covering the underlayer, typically a metallic layer which may be encased in metal oxide layers, which is then covered with a thin external protective top coat of a cured fluorinated resin.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A low emissivity transparent film composite comprising:
 1. a transparent polymeric film substrate; 2. an acrylic resin coating on one side of the substrate; 3. at least one infrared reflective layer on the acrylic resin coating; and 4. a topcoat on the at least one infrared reflective layer,
wherein low emissivity transparent film has a visible light transmission ranging from 25% to 50%.

2 . The low emissivity transparent film composite of claim 1 having an emissivity of less than 0.1.

3 . The low emissivity transparent film composite of claim 1 , wherein the infrared reflecting layer comprises a layer selected from aluminium, copper, gold, nickel, silver, platinum, palladium, or alloys thereof.

4 . The low emissivity transparent film composite of claim 1 , wherein the infrared reflecting layer comprises a metal oxide that is transparent to visible light.

5 . The low emissivity transparent film composite of claim 1 , wherein the transparent polymeric film substrate comprises a polyethylene terephthalate film.

6 . The low emissivity transparent film composite of claim 5 , wherein the transparent polymeric film substrate is treated with a UV absorber.

7 . The low emissivity transparent film composite of claim 1 , wherein the topcoat comprises a fluorosilane.

8 . The low emissivity transparent film composite of claim 1 , wherein the acrylic resin coating comprises at least one diacrylate.

9 . The low emissivity transparent film composite of claim 8 , wherein the at least one diacrylate is selected from hexanediol acrylate, tricyclodecane dimethanol diacrylate, and dioxane glycol diacrylate.

10 . The low emissivity transparent film composite of claim 1 , further comprising an adhesive layer and a release liner located on the other side of the substrate in relation to the acrylic resin coating.

11 . A low emissivity transparent film composite comprising:
 1. a transparent polymeric film substrate; 2. an acrylic resin coating on one side of the substrate; 3. at least one infrared reflective layer on the acrylic resin coating; and 4. a topcoat on the at least one infrared reflective layer,
wherein low emissivity transparent film has a visible light transmission ranging from 55% to 75%.

12 . The low emissivity transparent film composite of claim 11 having an emissivity of less than 0.2.

13 . The low emissivity transparent film composite of claim 11 , wherein the infrared reflecting layer comprises a layer selected from aluminium, copper, gold, nickel, silver, platinum, palladium, or alloys thereof.

14 . The low emissivity transparent film composite of claim 11 , wherein the infrared reflecting layer comprises a metal oxide that is transparent to visible light.

15 . The low emissivity transparent film composite of claim 11 , wherein the transparent polymeric film substrate comprises a polyethylene terephthalate film.

16 . The low emissivity transparent film composite of claim 15 , wherein the transparent polymeric film substrate is treated with a UV absorber.
