Abstract
Systems and methods for detecting noise episodes and processing analyte sensor data responsive thereto. In some embodiments, processing analyte sensor data includes filtering the sensor data to reduce or eliminate the effects of the noise episode on the signal.

21 . A computer-implemented method using a continuous glucose monitoring system to better represent actual glucose concentration values of a host, the method comprising:
receiving continuous glucose data stream generated by one or more continuous glucose sensors, the glucose data stream indicative a host's measured glucose concentration; processing the continuous glucose data stream to generate a substantially real-time graphical representation of glucose data; displaying the graphical representation on a user interface of the continuous glucose monitoring system; and periodically post-processing the continuous glucose data stream to update the substantially real-time graphical representation displayed on the user interface.
22 . The method of claim 21 , further comprising detecting an occurrence of a transient, non-glucose related signal artifact in the continuous glucose data stream and wherein the post-processing is performed responsive to the detection of the signal artifact.
23 . The method of claim 21 , wherein the graphical representation comprises trend graph representative of the host's glucose concentration over a predetermined time period.
24 . The method of claim 21 , wherein the graphical representation includes a real-time glucose value and a graphical representation of the post-processed continuous glucose data.
25 . The method of claim 21 , further comprising detecting a predetermined user action using the system, wherein the post-processing is performed responsive to the detection of the predetermined user action.
26 . The method of claim 25 , wherein the user action comprises detecting user activation of a button of the user interface.
27 . The method of claim 21 , wherein the periodic post-processing is performed at predetermined time intervals.
28 . The method of claim 21 , wherein the post-processing is only performed on sensor data of the sensor data stream data that is inclusive of time points within a past predetermined amount of time.
29 . The method of claim 28 , wherein the predetermined amount of time is less than one hour.
30 . The method of claim 21 , wherein the post-processing includes one or more of: recalibrating the sensor data stream; fill in data gaps of the sensor data stream; smooth out sensor data of the sensor data stream; and compensate for a time lag in sensor data of the sensor data stream.
31 . A continuous glucose monitoring system that better represents actual glucose concentration values of a host, the system comprising:
one or more processors; computer readable memory having instructions stored therein that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the glucose monitoring system to receive and store sensor data generated by one or more continuous glucose sensors, the sensor data indicative a host's measured glucose concentration; generate a substantially real-time graphical representation of glucose data based on the sensor data; display the graphical representation on a user interface of the continuous glucose monitoring system; and periodically post-process the continuous glucose data stream to update the substantially real-time graphical representation displayed on the user interface.
32 . The system of claim 31 , wherein the instructions further include instruction configured to cause the one or more processors to detect an occurrence of a transient, non-glucose related signal artifact based on the sensor data and wherein the post-processing is performed responsive to the detection of the signal artifact.
33 . The system of claim 31 , wherein the graphical representation includes a real-time glucose value and a graphical representation of the post-processed continuous glucose data.
