Abstract
An orthotic having a lever rotatably coupled to the underside of the orthotic is provided. A tensioning member is coupled at a first end to the lever and coupled to the underside of the orthotic at a second end. The orthotic may include one or more cut segments along a partial length thereof to which the tensioning member is coupled to cause the orthotic to rotate downward by a therapeutic angle.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedI claim:
1 . An orthotic comprising:
an orthotic having an underside thereof; a lever rotatably coupled directly or indirectly to the underside of said orthotic; and a tensioning member for tensioning said orthotic, said tensioning member having a first attachment point operably coupled at a first end thereof to the underside of said orthotic and a second attachment point operably coupled to said lever.
2 . The orthotic of claim 1 wherein said orthotic includes at least one cut segment along a partial length thereof.
3 . The orthotic of claim 2 wherein said at least one cut segment is positioned on the lateral side of said orthotic.
4 . The orthotic of claim 3 wherein the attachment point of said tensioning member is medial to a subtalar joint access toward a first ray.
5 . The orthotic of claim 4 wherein said tensioning member is structured to cause said orthotic to rotate downward on the medial side of that orthotic by a therapeutic angle.
6 . The orthotic of claim 3 wherein the attachment point of said tensioning member is lateral to a subtalar joint access toward a fourth or fifth ray.
7 . The orthotic of claim 6 wherein said tensioning member is structured to raise a lateral aspect of an arch of said orthotic.
8 . The orthotic of claim 2 wherein said at least one cut segment is positioned on the medial side of said orthotic.
9 . The orthotic of claim 8 wherein the attachment point of said tensioning member is positioned lateral to a subtalar joint access toward a fourth or fifth ray.
10 . The orthotic of claim 9 wherein said tensioning member is structured to cause orthotic to rotate downward on the lateral side of said orthotic by a therapeutic angle.
11 . The orthotic of claim 1 wherein said tensioning member is selected from a pin, a rod, a cable, a wire, a filament and combinations of the foregoing.
12 . The orthotic of claim 1 wherein said orthotic includes a plurality of cut segments along a partial length thereof.
13 . The orthotic of claim 1 wherein said orthotic includes two parallel cuts and said tensioning member is attached to a second ray.
14 . The orthotic of claim 1 wherein the attachment point of said tensioning member is selected from a first, second, third, fourth or fifth ray of the orthotic.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
