Abstract

Document management systems are disclosed herein. One disclosed example computer implemented method includes obtaining, via one or more processors, a data set representing attributes of one or more documents, obtaining a passport file, where the passport file includes an identifier, a schema designation and a workflow designation, generating a metadata file based on the data set and the schema, validating the metadata file against requirements defined by the schema, and generating a document production package including the passport file, the metadata file, and a data file.

Claims

What is claimed is:

         1 . A computer implemented method comprising:
obtaining, via one or more processors, a data set representing attributes of one or more documents; obtaining a passport file, wherein the passport file includes an identifier, a schema designation, and a workflow designation; generating a metadata file based on the data set and the schema; validating the metadata file against requirements defined by the schema; and generating a document production package including the passport file, the metadata file, and a data file.

2 . A computer implemented method as defined in claim 1 , wherein the requirements include field requirements.

3 . A computer implemented method as defined in claim 1 , wherein the schema includes an XML schema.

4 . A computer implemented method as defined in claim 1 , wherein the data file includes a client data file.

5 . A computer implemented method as defined in claim 1 , wherein the identifier includes a client identifier.

6 . A computer implemented method as defined in claim 1 , further including transmitting the document production package to a document production facility.

7 . A computer implemented method as defined in claim 6 , wherein transmitting the document production package includes at least one of:
emailing the document production package; transmitting the document production package via a secure communication channel; or transmitting the document production package via a Web Portal.

8 . The computer implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the metadata file includes at least one of:
a schema designation; client information; application information, wherein the application information identifies a source application of the metadata file; salesperson information; work-order information, wherein the work-order information includes territory information and file format information; task list information; or delivery information, wherein the delivery information includes one or more of a request date, a filing date, a delivery date or a delivery time.

         9 . A method comprising:
receiving a document production package including a passport file, a metadata file and a data file, wherein the passport file includes an identifier, a designation of a schema and a workflow designation, and wherein the metadata file is generated based on a document data file and the schema; and producing a document based on the document production package.

10 . A method as defined in claim 9 , wherein the data set represents attributes of a document.

11 . A method as defined in claim 9 , wherein the schema includes an XML schema.

12 . A method as defined in claim 9 , wherein the identifier includes a client identifier.

13 . A method as defined in claim 9 , wherein the data file includes a client data file.

14 . A method as defined in claim 9 , further including generating an invoice based on the metadata file and the document production package.

15 . The method as defined in claim 9 , wherein the metadata file includes at least one of:
a schema designation; client information; application information, wherein the application information identifies a source application of the metadata file; salesperson information; work-order information, wherein the work-order information includes territory information and file format information; task list information; or delivery information, wherein the delivery information includes one or more of a request date, a filing date, a delivery date or a delivery time.

16 . A computer system for implementing a production process of tagged compliance documents, comprising:
a server to receive document control instructions, wherein the document control instructions include a passport file, a metadata file and a document data file, and wherein the passport file includes an identifier, a schema designation and a workflow designation; and a processor to process the document control instructions by identifying a client and a document production process from the passport file, and by implementing the production process based on the document control instructions.

17 . A computer system as defined in claim 16 , wherein the processor is to implement the production process by transmitting the processed document control instructions to a document production facility.

18 . A computer system as defined in claim 16 , wherein the processor is to implement the production process by instructing production systems to produce a document based on the processed document control instructions.

19 . A computer system as defined in claim 16 , wherein the document control instructions include an email with embedded instructions and attachments.

20 . The computer system as defined in claim 16 , wherein the metadata file includes at least one of:
a schema designation; client information; application information, wherein the application information identifies a source application of the metadata file; salesperson information; work-order information, wherein the work-order information includes territory information and file format information; task list information; or delivery information, wherein the delivery information includes one or more of a request date, a filing date, a delivery date or a delivery time.

21 . A computer system as defined in claim 16 , wherein the document control instructions include tagging instructions and at least one of:
typesetting instructions; printing instructions; shipping instructions; or billing instructions.
