Abstract

Aspects of the present invention relate to methods and systems for positioning content within an FOV of a HWC based on sensor feedback.

We claim: 
     
         1 . A method, comprising:
 a. Presenting forward-motion position dependent content at a position within a field of view of a head-worn see-through display;   b. Sensing that the head-worn see-through display is moving forward at a speed in excess of a threshold indicative of a fast forward speed; and   c. Repositioning the content to an upper edge of the field of view such that the content provides less distraction to a user of the head-worn display while the head-worn display is moving forward in excess of the threshold.   
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the head-worn display is part of a head-worn computer including a speed sensor that provides the indication of forward speed. 
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the content is further position controlled through an external user interface and the speed based position control overrides the external user interface. 
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the repositioning to the upper edge of the field of view involves positioning the content such that it appears to be positioned outside of the field of view above the upper edge. 
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 1  further comprising, presenting sight-heading dependent content that is not motion position dependent. 
     
     
         6 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the head-worn display is part of a head-worn computer that includes a GPS sensor, IMU, and eCompass, wherein each of the GPS sensor, IMU and eCompass are used in the determination of the head-worn display's forward speed and the head-worn display's speed changes and heading. 
     
     
         7 . The method of  claim 1 , further comprising, sensing a sight heading of the head-worn display to determine assess the potential that the user of the head-worn display is a driver of a vehicle and in response to a high likelihood that the user is the driver modifying the extent of the repositioning. 
     
     
         8 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the step of presenting the content at a position within the field of view of the head-worn see-through display involves producing image light at a front-lit reflective display. 
     
     
         9 . The method of  claim 8 , wherein the reflective display is a DLP with a dark light trap. 
     
     
         10 . The method of  claim 8 , wherein the reflective display is an LCoS. 
     
     
         11 . The method of  claim 8 , wherein the head-worn see-through display includes an eye imaging system.
