Abstract

The present invention relates to the use of compositions comprising trans-clomiphene for treating men with hypogonadism. The invention is also directed to methods for treating males with hypogonadism.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A method for treating a condition associated with testosterone deficiency in a human male, comprising administering to said male an effective amount of a composition consisting essentially of trans-clomiphene or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof and one optionally one or more pharmaceutically acceptable diluents, adjuvants, carriers or excipients, wherein the condition associated with testosterone deficiency is oligospermia of azoospermia. 
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the trans-clomiphene is in a dosage of 1-200 mg per day. 
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 2 , wherein the trans-clomiphene is in a dosage of 50 mg per day. 
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 1  wherein the trans-clomiphene is administered in a dosage of 1.5 mg/kg per day. 
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the composition consists essentially of 12.5 mg of trans-clomiphene or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof 
     
     
         6 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the composition is in the form of a filled capsule for oral use. 
     
     
         7 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the composition is in the form of a tablet for oral use. 
     
     
         8 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the human male is a human male with secondary hypogonadism.
