Abstract

Methods and systems for survey designs are disclosed. In one embodiment, a method of towing an array of marine streamers is disclosed, wherein: the array includes a plurality of receivers, the array includes a plurality of steering devices, and the array is towed along a first portion of a coil sail path; steering the array of marine streamers along two or more depths; and steering the array of marine streamers to a slant angle while maintaining the array of marine streamers at their respective two or more depths.

         22 . A method, comprising:
 towing an array of marine streamers, wherein:
 the array includes a plurality of receivers; 
 the array includes a plurality of steering devices; and 
 the array is towed along a first portion of a coil sail path; and 
   steering the marine streamers such that respective marine streamers in the array are at variable depths along a crossline direction.   
     
     
         23 . The method of  claim 22 , further comprising steering the marine streamers such that the receivers along a respective marine streamer are at variable depths. 
     
     
         24 . The method of  claim 23 , wherein the variable depths of the receivers along the respective marine streamer increase at a slant angle along an inline direction. 
     
     
         25 . The method of  claim 22 , wherein the variable depths along the crossline direction increase at a slant along the crossline direction. 
     
     
         26 . The method of  claim 22 , wherein steering the marine streamers such that respective marine streamers in the array are at variable depths comprises steering steering the marine streamers such that a first streamer in the array is maintained substantially at a first depth and a last streamer in the array is maintained substantially at a second depth, wherein the second depth is greater than the first depth. 
     
     
         27 . The method of  claim 26 , further comprising steering the marine streamers such that a front end receiver on the first streamer is at a first depth and a tail end receiver on the first streamer is at a second depth that is greater than the first depth. 
     
     
         28 . The method of  claim 27 , further comprising steering the marine streamers such that a front end receiver on the last streamer is at a third depth and a tail end receiver on the last streamer is at a fourth depth that is greater than the third depth. 
     
     
         29 . The method of  claim 27 , wherein the third depth is greater than the first depth. 
     
     
         30 . The method of  claim 27 , wherein the fourth depth is greater than the second depth. 
     
     
         31 . The method of  claim 22 , wherein the plurality of receivers include one or more seismic receivers or one or more electromagnetic receivers. 
     
     
         32 . The method of  claim 22 , wherein the array of marine streamers is steered using the plurality of steering devices. 
     
     
         33 . The method of  claim 22 , wherein the plurality of steering devices comprises one or more birds, one or more deflectors, one or more tail buoys or combinations thereof. 
     
     
         34 . The method of  claim 33 , wherein the marine streamers are steered to the variable depths using the one or more birds. 
     
     
         35 . The method of  claim 22 , wherein the array of marine streamers is steered to the slant angle using the deflectors or tail buoys. 
     
     
         36 . The method of  claim 22 , further comprising:
 towing one or more sources; and   producing one or more energy emissions from the one or more sources while towing the array of marine streamers in the first portion of the coil sail path.   
     
     
         37 . The method of  claim 36 , wherein the one or more sources are towed by a first vessel, and the array of marine streamers is towed by a second vessel. 
     
     
         38 . The method of  claim 36 , wherein the one or more sources and the streamer array are towed by a first vessel. 
     
     
         39 . A method, comprising:
 receiving a data set collected by a plurality of marine streamers having a plurality of receivers, wherein the received data set corresponds to a subterranean region;   wherein while collecting the data set, the plurality of marine streamers was towed along a first portion of a coil sail path and such that respective marine streamers in the array are at variable depths along a crossline direction; and   processing the collected data, wherein the processing includes one or more techniques selected from the group consisting of stacking, imaging, inversion, full waveform inversion, deconvolution, migration, deghosting, reverse time migration, mirror migration, zero-phase Wiener deconvolution, and blueness correction.   
     
     
         40 . The method of  claim 39 , wherein while collecting the data set, the plurality of marine streamers was towed such that the receivers along a respective marine streamer are at variable depths. 
     
     
         41 . A survey system, comprising:
 a vessel, and   a steerable array of marine streamers including a plurality of receivers and a plurality of steering devices, wherein:   the steerable array of marine streamers is configured to be towed along a coil sail path; and   the steerable array of marine streamers is configured to be towed such that respective marine streamers in the array are at variable depths along a crossline direction.   
     
     
         42 . The survey system of  claim 41 , wherein the steerable array of marine streamers is configured to be towed such that the receivers along a respective marine streamer are at variable depths.
