Abstract
A floor tile for a data center floor includes a memory device and a tile management controller coupled to the memory device. The tile management controller receives configuration information for a server rack located on the floor tile and stores the configuration information in the memory device.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A floor tile for a data center, the floor tile comprising:
a memory device; and a tile management controller coupled to the memory device, the tile management controller operable to:
receive configuration information for a server rack located on the floor tile; and
store the configuration information in the memory device.
2 . The floor tile of claim 1 , further comprising:
a communication module operable to couple the tile management controller to a management network of a data center.
3 . The floor tile of claim 2 , wherein the management controller is further operable to receive the configuration information from the management network.
4 . The floor tile of claim 2 , wherein:
the management network includes a rack management controller of the server rack; the tile management controller is further operable to provide the configuration information to the rack management controller.
5 . The floor tile of claim 4 , wherein the tile management controller directs the rack management controller to configure equipment in the server rack with the configuration information.
6 . The floor tile of claim 1 , wherein the configuration information includes one of a grid location of a data center floor upon which the server rack is located, a weight limit for the server rack, and an Internet Protocol address range for the equipment in the server rack.
7 . The floor tile of claim 1 , further comprising:
a sensor coupled to the tile management controller.
8 . The floor tile of claim 7 , wherein the sensor comprises one of a temperature sensor and a weight sensor.
9 . A method comprising:
receiving, at a tile management controller of a floor tile of a data center floor, configuration information; and storing the configuration information in a memory device of the floor tile, wherein the memory device is coupled to the management controller.
10 . The method of claim 9 , further comprising:
prior to receiving the configuration information, coupling the tile management controller to a management network of a data center via a communication module of the floor tile.
11 . The method of claim 10 , further comprising:
coupling, via the communication module, the tile management controller to a rack management controller of a server rack located on the floor tile; and providing the configuration equipment to the rack management controller.
12 . The method of claim 11 , further comprising:
directing, by the tile management controller, the rack management controller to configure equipment in the server rack with the configuration information.
13 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the configuration information includes one of a grid location of a data center floor upon which the server rack is located, a weight limit for the server rack, and an Internet Protocol address range for the equipment in the server rack.
14 . The method of claim 9 , further comprising:
coupling the management controller to one of a temperature sensor and a weight sensor.
15 . A non-transitory computer-readable medium including code for performing a method, the method comprising:
receiving, at a tile management controller of a floor tile of a data center floor, configuration information; and storing the configuration information in a memory device of the floor tile, wherein the memory device is coupled to the management controller.
16 . The computer-readable medium of claim 15 , the method further comprising:
prior to receiving the configuration information, coupling the tile management controller to a management network of a data center via a communication module of the floor tile.
17 . The computer-readable medium of claim 16 , the method further comprising:
coupling, via the communication module, the tile management controller to a rack management controller of a server rack located on the floor tile; and providing the configuration equipment to the rack management controller.
18 . The computer-readable medium of claim 17 , the method further comprising:
directing, by the tile management controller, the rack management controller to configure equipment in the server rack with the configuration information.
19 . The computer-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the configuration information includes one of a grid location of a data center floor upon which the server rack is located, a weight limit for the server rack, and an Internet Protocol address range for the equipment in the server rack.
20 . The computer-readable medium of claim 15 , the method further comprising:
coupling the management controller to one of a temperature sensor and a weight sensor.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
