Recreational board carrier

Abstract

A recreational board carrier. The carrier can include a central portion, at least one longitudinal strap coupled to the central portion and extending therefrom, a coupler disposed at a distal end of the longitudinal strap, the coupler adapted to couple to a first end of a recreational board, a plurality of apertures defined in the longitudinal strap, and at least one carrying strap coupled to the central portion.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A method of carrying a recreation board comprising:
 orienting a recreational board with respect to a recreational board carrier such that when the recreational board carrier is adorned, a longitudinal axis of the recreational board is oriented vertically;   extending a lateral retaining strap coupled to the recreational board carrier around the recreational board substantially perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the recreational board.   extending a first longitudinal strap down from the central portion along the longitudinal axis of the recreational board on a first side of the recreation board;   wrapping the first longitudinal strap under a bottom of the recreational board;   extending the first longitudinal strap back up along the longitudinal axis of the recreational board on an opposite side of the recreation board;   coupling the first longitudinal strap to the recreational board proximate to a top of the recreational board.   extending a second longitudinal strap from a top of the central portion up along the longitudinal axis of the first side;   coupling the second longitudinal strap proximate to the top of the recreational board; and,   adorning the recreation board carrier using at least one carrying strap coupled to the recreational board carrier such that the longitudinal axis of the recreation board is oriented vertically.   
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the coupling the first longitudinal strap step is performed by placing a coupling member over the top of the recreational board and tightening the coupling member. 
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 2 , wherein the coupling member is an adjustable loop. 
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the recreational board is a surfboard. 
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 4 , further comprising placing a fin of the surfboard in a longitudinal aperture along a length of the longitudinal strap. 
     
     
         6 . The method of  claim 1 , further comprising removing the first longitudinal strap and the second longitudinal strap from a storage compartment in the recreational board carrier. 
     
     
         7 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the second longitudinal strap is coupled to the first longitudinal strap. 
     
     
         8 . A method of carrying a surfboard comprising:
 orienting a surfboard with respect to a backpack such that when the backpack is adorned, a longitudinal axis of the surfboard is oriented vertically;   coupling the surfboard to the backpack by extending a lateral strap coupled to the backpack around the surfboard, wherein the lateral strap is oriented substantially perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the surfboard;   coupling a first longitudinal strap coupled to the backpack to a nose of the surfboard, wherein the longitudinal strap extends from the backpack along the longitudinal axis of the surfboard to the nose of the surfboard; and,   adorning the backpack such that the longitudinal axis of the recreation board is oriented vertically.   
     
     
         9 . The method of  claim 8  wherein the first longitudinal strap extends up from the backpack to the nose of the surfboard. 
     
     
         10 . The method of  claim 9 , wherein a distal end of the first longitudinal strap includes a coupling member that is coupled to the nose of the surfboard. 
     
     
         11 . The method of  claim 8 , wherein the first longitudinal strap extends down from the backpack along the longitudinal axis of the surfboard on a first side of the surfboard and wraps under a bottom of the surfboard and extends back up along the longitudinal axis of the surfboard on an opposite side of the surfboard. 
     
     
         12 . The method of  claim 10 , wherein the coupling member is an adjustable loop. 
     
     
         13 . The method of  claim 11 , further comprising placing a fin of the surfboard in an aperture along a length of the longitudinal strap. 
     
     
         14 . The method of  claim 8 , further comprising coupling a second longitudinal strap coupled to the backpack proximate to a nose of the surfboard, wherein the longitudinal strap extends from the backpack along the longitudinal axis of the surfboard to the nose of the surfboard. 
     
     
         15 . A method of carrying a recreation board comprising:
 orienting a recreational board with respect to a recreational board carrier such that when the recreational board carrier is adorned, a longitudinal axis of the recreational board is oriented vertically;   extending a lateral retaining strap coupled to the recreational board carrier around the recreational board substantially perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the recreational board.   extending a first longitudinal strap down from the central portion along the longitudinal axis of the recreational board on a first side of the recreation board;   wrapping the first longitudinal strap under a bottom of the recreational board;   extending the first longitudinal strap back up along the longitudinal axis of the recreational board on an opposite side of the recreation board;   coupling the first longitudinal strap proximate to a top of the recreational board; and,   adorning the recreation board carrier using at least one carrying strap coupled to the recreational board carrier such that the longitudinal axis of the recreation board is oriented vertically.   
     
     
         16 . The method of  claim 15 , wherein the coupling the first longitudinal strap step is performed by placing a coupling member over the top of the recreational board and tightening the coupling member. 
     
     
         17 . The method of  claim 16 , wherein the coupling member is an adjustable loop. 
     
     
         18 . The method of  claim 15 , wherein the recreational board is a surfboard. 
     
     
         19 . The method of  claim 18 , further comprising placing a fin of the surfboard in a longitudinal aperture along a length of the longitudinal strap. 
     
     
         20 . The method of  claim 15 , wherein the recreational board carrier is a backpack.
