Method and kit for accessorizing a sandal

Abstract

A scarf of specialized dimension is helically wrapped about a Y-shaped structural portion of a sandal, and then tied around the ankle or calf of a wearer and knotted. The scarf is provided as part of at least one scarf pair for accessorizing a pair of sandals.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A method of accessorizing a sandal which includes a generally Y-shaped strap, a base of which defines a toe separating portion which is fastened to the sole at a forward position of the sole and which passes between the first and second toes of a user when worn, and an upper part of the Y-shaped strap which diverges from said toe separating portion which defines a right instep support and a left instep support is positioned around either side of the foot when worn and is attached to a rearward part of the sole, the method comprising:
 providing at least one scarf pair;   pulling each scarf of said at least one scarf pair through a space behind a rearward facing side of the toe separating portion;   cris-crossing each said scarf in front of the toe separating portion to thereby divide the scarf into a right scarf segment and a left scarf segment; and   helically winding the right scarf segment and the left scarf segment respectively around the right instep support and the left instep support.   
     
     
         2 . A method according to  claim 1 , wherein said cris-crossing includes adjusting the right scarf segment and the left scarf segment to be of approximately even lengths. 
     
     
         3 . A method according to  claim 1 , wherein said sandal is a flip-flop. 
     
     
         4 . A method according to  claim 1 , wherein said helically winding includes winding a one of said right scarf segment and said left scarf segment in a clockwise direction and a remaining one of said right scarf segment and said left scarf segment in a counterclockwise direction. 
     
     
         5 . A method according to  claim 4 , wherein said one of said right scarf segment and said left scarf segment which is wound in said clockwise direction is said right scarf segment, and said remaining one of said right scarf segment and said left scarf segment which is wound in said counterclockwise direction is said left scarf segment. 
     
     
         6 . A method according to  claim 1 , wherein said providing a scarf includes commercially offering a choice of at least two scarfs to allow a user to select an assortment of said at least two scarfs for accessorizing said sandal to achieve different styles coordinated with other apparel. 
     
     
         7 . A method according to  claim 1 , wherein said providing a scarf includes commercially offering at least one scarf comprised of  30  denier velvet polyester chiffon. 
     
     
         8 . A method according to  claim 1 , wherein said providing a scarf pair includes commercially offering at least one scarf pair configured as one of a diamond, a trapezoid, a parallelogram, a bow-tie shape or a shape tapering to ends from lateral sides. 
     
     
         9 . A method according to  claim 1 , further comprising:
 wrapping end portions of said right scarf segment and said left scarf segment at least once around an ankle or calf of a wearer; and   fastening said end portions together.   
     
     
         10 . A kit for accessorizing a sandal, comprising at least two scarf pairs each comprising at least one of a pattern or color which is different from one another, each of said at least two scarf pairs having a width in a range of about 6″ to about 8″ and a length of about 54″ to about 60″. 
     
     
         11 . A kit according to  claim 10 , wherein at least one of said at least two scarf pairs is configured as one of a diamond, a trapezoid, a parallelogram, a bow-tie shape or a shape tapering to ends from lateral sides. 
     
     
         12 . A kit according to  claim 10 , wherein at least one of said at least two scarf pairs is comprised of  30  denier velvet polyester chiffon. 
     
     
         13 . A product for accessorizing a sandal, comprising:
 at least two scarfs, each being comprised of a fabric having finished sides and being sized in a width range of about 6″ to about 8″ and a length range of about 54″ to about 60″.   
     
     
         14 . A product according to  claim 13 , wherein said at least two scarfs include ends which taper to a pointed angle. 
     
     
         15 . A product according to  claim 14 , wherein said fabric comprises 30 denier velvet polyester chiffon.
