Abstract
A method of mobile printing using near field communication (NFC) includes executing a mobile printing application installed in a mobile device; setting a wireless connection for data transmission between the mobile device and an image forming apparatus by performing NFC tagging on the image forming apparatus with the mobile device; and automatically performing a function corresponding to a status of the mobile printing application when NFC tagging is performed.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . An apparatus comprising:
a Near Field Communication (NFC) interface configured to provide information via a first communication to an external device for establishing a second communication; and a Wi-Fi interface configured to:
establish the second communication based on the information provided via the first communication, and
receive data, via the second communication, corresponding to one of a plurality of image forming functions,
wherein the one of a plurality of image forming functions is selected by a user.
2 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the one of the plurality of image forming functions is one of a printing function, a scanning function, or a fax function.
3 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the Wi-Fi interface is further configured to establish the second communication if the external device, containing the data corresponding to one of a plurality of image forming functions, is detected.
4 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the one of the plurality of image forming functions is selected by a user before the external device is detected.
5 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the data comprises at least one of image data and a command to perform the one of image forming functions.
6 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the data comprises print image data and a print command if the one of image forming functions is a printing function.
7 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the data comprises a scan command if the one of the plurality of image forming functions is a scanning function.
8 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the Wi-Fi interface transmits, to the external device, scan image data generated based on the scan command.
9 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the data is generated in the external device based on the one of the plurality of image forming functions.
10 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the Wi-Fi interface receives the data generated by external device executing an application.
11 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the first communication is an NFC.
12 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the first communication is established via a unidirectional NFC.
13 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the first communication is established via a bidirectional NFC.
14 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the second communication is a Wi-Fi connection.
15 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the second communication is a Wi-Fi direct connection.
16 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the second communication provides a data rate faster than a data rate provided by the first communication.
17 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the second communication is established automatically based on the information provided via the NFC.
18 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the second communication is established without a user input if the external device transmits the information to the apparatus.
19 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the information comprises a Media Access Control (MAC) address, a Service Set Identity (SSID), a Personal Identification Number (PIN) and a device name.
20 . A method of performing an image forming function in an apparatus, the method comprising:
providing information via a first communication to an external device for establishing a second communication based on the information provided via the first communication; receiving data, via the second communication, corresponding to one of a plurality of image forming functions; and performing the one of the plurality of image forming functions based on the received data, wherein the one of a plurality of image forming functions is selected by a user.
21 . An apparatus comprising:
a processor configured to process data corresponding to one of a plurality of image forming functions selected by a user; a Near Field Communication (NFC) interface configured to obtain information for establishing a second communication via a first communication; and a Wi-Fi interface configured to transmit, to an external device, the data via the second communication.
22 . The apparatus of claim 21 , wherein the one of the plurality of image forming functions is one of a printing function, a scanning function, or a fax function.
23 . The apparatus of claim 21 , wherein the Wi-Fi interface is further configured to establish the second communication if the external device, containing the data corresponding to one of a plurality of image forming functions, is detected.
24 . The apparatus of claim 21 , wherein the data comprises at least one of image data and a command to perform the one of image forming functions.
25 . The apparatus of claim 21 , wherein the data comprises print image data and a print command if the one of image forming functions is a printing function.
26 . The apparatus of claim 21 , wherein the data comprises a scan command if the one of the plurality of image forming functions is a scanning function.
27 . The apparatus of claim 21 , wherein the second communication is established automatically based on the information provided via the NFC.
28 . The apparatus of claim 21 , wherein the second communication is established without a user input if the external device transmits the information to the apparatus.
29 . A method of performing an image forming function in an apparatus, the method comprising:
obtaining, from an external device, information for establishing a second communication via a first communication; establishing the second communication based on the obtained information; and transmitting, to the external device via the second communication, data corresponding to one of a plurality of image forming functions selected by a user.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
