Abstract

A handheld computation device and a mobile communication device including a display, one or more accelerometers adapted to output accelerometer output signals, motion processing circuitry adapted to generate motion indicators and control circuitry adapted to prioritize the motion indicators and to control handheld computation device functions.

1 . A handheld computation device comprising:
 a display;   one or more accelerometers adapted to output one or more accelerometer output signals indicative of acceleration of the device;   motion processing circuitry adapted to generate two or more different motion indicators at least partially based upon the accelerometer output signals; and   control circuitry adapted to prioritize the two or more motion indicators and to control one or more handheld computation device functions at least partially based on the prioritization.   
     
     
         2 . Computation device according to  claim 1 , wherein generation of two or more different motion indicators includes analysis. 
     
     
         3 . Computation device according to  claim 1 , wherein the motion indicators include one or more velocity indicators. 
     
     
         4 . Computation device according to  claim 1 , wherein the prioritization includes analysis. 
     
     
         5 . Computation device according to  claim 1 , wherein the prioritization includes two or more decisions. 
     
     
         6 . Computation device according to  claim 1 , wherein the control includes triggering one or more of the device functions. 
     
     
         7 . Computation device according to  claim 1 , wherein the device control circuitry is further adapted to generate two or more motion recognition indications for controlling the one or more device functions. 
     
     
         8 . Computation device according to  claim 1 , wherein the device functions include at least one of: (a) display alteration, (b) power management, (c) power saving and (d) calculation. 
     
     
         9 . Computation device according to  claim 1 , wherein the device includes wireless communication circuitry adapted to provide the device with wireless communication functionality, and wherein the device functions include two or more of: a calculator, a calendar, text messaging, email, and internet browsing. 
     
     
         10 . A mobile communication device comprising:
 wireless communication circuitry adapted to provide the device with wireless communication functionality;   a display;   one or more accelerometers adapted to output one or more accelerometer output signals indicative of acceleration of the device;   motion processing circuitry adapted to generate two or more different motion indicators at least partially based upon the accelerometer output signals; and   control circuitry adapted to prioritize the two or more motion indicators and to control one or more mobile communication device functions at least partially based on the prioritization.   
     
     
         11 . Mobile device according to  claim 10 , wherein generation of two or more different motion indicators includes analysis. 
     
     
         12 . Mobile device according to  claim 10 , wherein the motion indicators include one or more velocity indicators. 
     
     
         13 . Mobile device according to  claim 10 , wherein the prioritization includes analysis. 
     
     
         14 . Mobile device according to  claim 10 , wherein the prioritization includes two or more decisions. 
     
     
         15 . Mobile device according to  claim 10 , wherein the control includes triggering one or more of the mobile device functions. 
     
     
         16 . Mobile device according to  claim 10 , wherein the device control circuitry is further adapted to generate two or more motion recognition indications for controlling the one or more device functions. 
     
     
         17 . Mobile device according to  claim 10 , wherein the mobile communication device functions include at least one of display alteration, power management, power saving, calculation, wireless communication and starting a call. 
     
     
         18 . Mobile device according to  claim 10 , wherein the mobile communication device functions include three or more of: (a) telephone, (b) calculator, (c) calendar, (d) text messaging, (e) email, and (f) internet browsing. 
     
     
         19 . Mobile device according to  claim 10 , wherein the mobile communication device is further adapted to perform a function relating to at least one of: (a) an electronic wallet, (b) a credit card, and (c) a smart card. 
     
     
         20 . A method for motion processing comprising:
 providing one or more accelerometer output signals indicative of acceleration of a device from one or more accelerometers included in the device;   generating two or more different motion indicators at least partially based upon the accelerometer output signals; and   prioritizing the two or more motion indicators and controlling one or more device functions at least partially based on the prioritization.   
     
     
         21 . Motion processing method according to  claim 20 , wherein the prioritization includes two or more decisions. 
     
     
         22 . Motion processing method according to  claim 20 , wherein the controlling includes triggering one or more of the device functions. 
     
     
         23 . Motion processing method according to  claim 20 , wherein the controlling is further adapted to generate two or more motion recognition indications. 
     
     
         24 . Motion processing method according to  claim 20 , wherein the device functions include at least one of display alteration, power management, power saving and calculation. 
     
     
         25 . Method according to  claim 20 , wherein the method includes wireless communication circuitry providing a wireless communication functionality and wherein the device functions include two or more of a calculator, a calendar, text messaging, email and internet browsing. 
     
     
         26 . Computation device according to  claim 1 , wherein one or more accelerometer output signals indicative of acceleration of the device include at least three digital signals. 
     
     
         27 . Mobile device according to  claim 10 , wherein one or more accelerometer output signals indicative of acceleration of the device include at least three digital signals.
