Claims

Abstract

A display control apparatus includes a detection unit for detecting a touch operation on a display unit, a storing unit for temporarily storing data of a plurality of images, and a display control unit for performing, in response to the detection unit detecting a touch operation including a movement with a touch kept on the display unit, a scrolling process for scrolling an image displayed on the display unit to display another image temporarily stored in the storing unit, and performing, in response to the detection unit detecting a touch operation including a movement for a predetermined distance or longer with a touch kept on the display unit, an updating process for updating the data of the plurality of images temporarily stored in the storing unit with data of another plurality of images to display the images included in the other plurality of images on the display unit.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A display control apparatus comprising:
 a detection unit configured to detect a touch operation on a screen of a display unit; and   a display control unit configured to control the display unit to display a first subset of a first plurality of images read from a storing unit,   wherein the display control unit controls the display unit, in response to the detection unit detecting, while the first subset is displayed, a touch operation including a movement along a first axis for a first distance or longer with a touch kept on the screen of the display unit, to scroll in the first plurality of images, and in response to the detection unit detecting, while the first subset is displayed, a touch operation including a movement along a second axis being different from the first axis for a second distance or longer with a touch kept on the screen of the display unit, to display a second subset of a second plurality of images stored on the storing unit, and   wherein the second distance is longer than the first distance.   
     
     
         2 . The display control apparatus according to  claim 1 , wherein the first axis is orthogonal to the second axis. 
     
     
         3 . The display control apparatus according to  claim 1 , wherein the movement along the first axis is in a vertical direction, and
 the movement along the second axis is in a horizontal direction.   
     
     
         4 . The display control apparatus according to  claim 1 ,
 wherein the movement along the first axis is in a long side direction of the display unit, and   the movement along the second axis is in a short side direction of the display unit.   
     
     
         5 . The display control apparatus according to  claim 1 , wherein the second plurality of images stored on the storing unit are read from the storing unit before the second plurality of images are displayed, in response to the detection unit detecting, while the first subset is displayed, the touch operation including the movement along the second axis being different from the first axis for the second distance or longer with the touch kept on the screen of the display unit. 
     
     
         6 . A display control apparatus comprising:
 a detection unit configured to detect a touch operation on a screen of a display unit; and   a display control unit configured to control the display unit to display a part of a page including a plurality of images stored on a storing unit,   wherein the display control unit controls the display unit, in response to the detection unit detecting, while the part of the page is displayed, a touch operation including a movement along a first axis for a first distance or longer with a touch kept on the screen of the display unit, to scroll in the page, and in response to the detection unit detecting, while the part of the page is displayed, a touch operation including a movement along a second axis being different from the first axis for a second distance or longer with a touch kept on the screen of the display unit, to switch the page to another page, and   wherein the second distance is longer than the first distance.   
     
     
         7 . The display control apparatus according to  claim 6 , wherein the first axis is orthogonal to the second axis. 
     
     
         8 . The display control apparatus according to  claim 6 , further comprising a receiving unit configured to receive data of an image recorded on a recording medium in an external device,
 wherein the receiving unit requests the data in response to the detection unit detecting, while the part of the page is displayed, the touch operation including the movement along the second axis for the second distance or longer with the touch kept on the screen of the display unit.   
     
     
         9 . A display control apparatus comprising:
 a detection unit configured to detect a touch operation on a screen of a display unit; and   a display control unit configured to control the display unit to display a first subset of a first plurality of images,   wherein the display control unit controls the display unit, in response to the detection unit detecting, while the first subset is displayed, a touch operation including a movement along a first axis for a first distance or longer with a touch kept on the screen of the display unit, to scroll to a second subset of the first plurality of images, and in response to the detection unit detecting, while the first subset is displayed, a touch operation including a movement along a second axis being different from the first axis for a second distance or longer with a touch kept on the screen of the display unit, to display a third subset of a second plurality of images being different from the first plurality of images, and   wherein the second distance is longer than the first distance.   
     
     
         10 . The display control apparatus according to  claim 9 , wherein the first axis is orthogonal to the second axis. 
     
     
         11 . The display control apparatus according to  claim 9 , wherein the second subset is disposed upstream of the first subset in a direction of the touch operation. 
     
     
         12 . The display control apparatus according to  claim 9 , further comprising a receiving unit configured to receive data of an image recorded on a recording medium in an external device,
 wherein the receiving unit requests the data in response to the detection unit detecting, while the first subset is displayed, the touch operation including the movement along the second axis for the second distance or longer with the touch kept on the screen of the display unit.   
     
     
         13 . The display control apparatus according to  claim 12 , wherein the receiving unit receives the data of the image by performing wireless communication with the external device. 
     
     
         14 . The display control apparatus according to  claim 13 , wherein the external device includes a digital camera. 
     
     
         15 . A method of a display control apparatus comprising:
 detecting a touch operation on a screen of a display unit; and   controlling the display unit to display a first subset of a first plurality of images read from a storing unit,   wherein the display unit is controlled, in response to detection of a touch operation including a movement along a first axis for a first distance or longer with a touch kept on the screen of the display unit while the first subset is displayed, to scroll in the first plurality of images, and in response to detection of a touch operation including a movement along a second axis being different from the first axis for a second distance or longer with a touch kept on the screen of the display unit while the first subset is displayed, to display a second subset of a second plurality of images stored on the storing unit, and   wherein the second distance is longer than the first distance.   
     
     
         16 . A method of a display control apparatus comprising:
 detecting a touch operation on a screen of a display unit; and   controlling the display unit to display a part of a page including a plurality of images stored on a storing unit,   wherein the display unit is controlled, in response to detection of a touch operation including a movement along a first axis for a first distance or longer with a touch kept on the screen of the display unit while the part of the page is displayed, to scroll in the page, and in response to detection of a touch operation including a movement along a second axis being different from the first axis for a second distance or longer with a touch kept on the screen of the display unit while the part of the page is displayed, to switch the page to another page, and   wherein the second distance is longer than the first distance.   
     
     
         17 . A method of a display control apparatus comprising:
 detecting a touch operation on a screen of a display unit; and   controlling the display unit to display a first subset of a first plurality of images,   wherein the display unit is controlled, in response to detection of a touch operation including a movement along a first axis for a first distance or longer with a touch kept on the screen of the display unit while the first subset is displayed, to scroll to a second subset of the first plurality of images, and in response to detection of a touch operation including a movement along a second axis being different from the first axis for a second distance or longer with a touch kept on the screen of the display unit while the first subset is displayed, to display a third subset of a second plurality of images being different from the first plurality of images, and   wherein the second distance is longer than the first distance.   
     
     
         18 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing a program that causes a computer to function as each unit of the display control apparatus according to  claim 1 . 
     
     
         19 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing a program that causes a computer to function as each unit of the display control apparatus according to  claim 6 . 
     
     
         20 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing a program that causes a computer to function as each unit of the display control apparatus according to  claim 9 .
