Abstract

A bed covering elevating system elevates bed sheets, blankets or the like over a person's feet to prevent pressure on the person's toes. The system includes a mattress. A frame is removably mounted to the mattress. The frame includes a middle section and a pair of arms coupled to and extending downwardly from opposite ends of the middle section. The middle section extends horizontally over and is spaced from a top side of the mattress. A pair of mattress engagement members is provided. Each of the mattress engagement members is attached to a distal end of an associated one of the arms with respect to the middle section. The mattress engagement members are orientated toward each other. A bottom side of the mattress abuts a top surface of each of the mattress engagement members to support the frame above the mattress.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A bed covering elevating system comprising:
a mattress having a top side and a bottom side; a frame removably mounted to said mattress, said frame including a middle section and a pair of arms coupled to and extending downwardly from opposite ends of said middle section, said middle section extending horizontally over said top side of said mattress, said middle section being spaced from said top side of said mattress; and a pair of mattress engagement members, each of said mattress engagement members being attached to a distal end of an associated one of said arms with respect to said middle section, said mattress engagement members being orientated to extend toward each other such that each said mattress engagement member is positionable with said bottom side of said mattress abutting a top surface of each of said mattress engagement members to support said frame above said mattress, each of said mattress engagement members comprising a plate, said plate being rectangular having a planar upper surface and a planar lower surface wherein each said mattress engagement member is configured for insertion between the mattress and a box spring under the mattress.

2 . The system of claim 1 , further comprising a bed covering extending over said top side of said mattress and said middle section of said frame.

3 . The system of claim 1 , further comprising said mattress having a rear end, said middle section extending over said top side of said mattress proximate said rear end of said mattress.

4 . The system of claim 1 , further comprising each of said mattress engagement members being positioned below said middle section.

5 . The system of claim 1 , further comprising each of said mattress engagement members being positioned transversely with respect to said middle section.

         6 . (canceled)

7 . The system of claim 1 , further comprising said middle section being telescopic.

8 . The system of claim 1 , further comprising each of said arms being telescopic.

9 . A bed covering elevating system comprising:
a mattress having a top side, a bottom side, a front end and a rear end; a frame removably mounted to said mattress, said frame including a middle section and a pair of arms coupled to and extending downwardly from opposite ends of said middle section, said middle section extending horizontally over said top side of said mattress proximate said rear end of said mattress, said middle section being spaced from said top side of said mattress, said middle section being telescopic, each of said arms being telescopic; wherein said frame is formed from a pair of bars, a first hollow sleeve and a second hollow sleeve, said first hollow sleeve comprising a first section and a second section, said second hollow sleeve being coupled to said first section and said second section, an upper end of one of said bars being positioned within a first end of said first section, an upper end of one of said bars being positioned within a first end of said second section, a second end of said first section being positioned within a first side of said second hollow sleeve, a second end of said second section being positioned within a second side of said second hollow sleeve, said first hollow sleeve being formed from a cushioned material; a pair of mattress engagement members, each of said mattress engagement members being attached to a distal end of an associated one of said arms with respect to said middle section, each of said mattress engagement members being positioned below said middle section, each of said mattress engagement members being positioned transversely with respect to said middle section, said mattress engagement members being orientated toward each other, each of said mattress engagement members comprising a plate having a planar upper surface and a planar lower surface wherein each said mattress engagement member is configured for insertion between the mattress and a box spring under the mattress, said bottom side of said mattress abutting said upper surface of each of said mattress engagement members to support said frame above said mattress; and a bed covering extending over said top side of said mattress and said middle section of said frame.
