Abstract
A system for managing a securities-based card spending account is disclosed. The system comprises a processor and an account comprising one or more securities. A first set of instructions is executable on the processor that is capable of allowing the setting of trade parameters defining percentages of the one or more securities to be traded to cover a purchase. A second set of instructions is executable on the processor for triggering one or more trades of the one or more securities according to the percentages defined in the trade parameters.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A system for managing a securities-based spending account, the system comprising:
a. a processor; b. an account comprising one or more securities; c. a first set of instructions executable on the processor that allow the setting of trade parameters defining percentages of the one or more securities to be traded to cover a purchase; and d. a second set of instructions executable on the processor that trigger one or more trades of the one or more securities according to the percentages defined in the trade parameters.
2 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the account comprises an educational spending account.
3 . The system of claim 2 , wherein the purchase comprises one or more products that are qualifiable for purchase with the education spending account.
4 . The system of claim 3 , further comprising a third set of instructions executable on the processor that qualify the one or more products that are qualifiable for purchase before the purchase is completed.
5 . The system of claim 4 , further comprising a database having a table readable by the third set of instructions executable on the processor.
6 . The system of claim 1 , further comprising a trade queue for storing one or more pending trade orders before execution.
7 . The system of claim 6 , wherein the second set of instructions is further configured to determine, based on the one or more pending trade orders, whether the account has enough value before triggering the one or more trades.
8 . The system of claim 7 , wherein the second set of instructions is further configured to determine, based on one or more executed trade orders that have not settled, whether the account has enough value before triggering the one or more trades.
9 . The system of claim 7 , wherein the second set of instructions is further configured to determine, based on one or more executed trade orders that have not settled, whether the account has enough value, plus a buffer, before triggering the one or more trades.
10 . The system of claim 9 , wherein the buffer comprises a percentage of the purchase.
11 . The system of claim 8 , further comprising an escrow account for providing credit to cover the purchase until the one or more executed trade orders that have not settled, settle.
12 . A method for managing a securities-based spending account, wherein the account comprises one or more securities, the method comprising the steps of:
a. allowing the setting of trade parameters defining percentages of the one or more securities to be traded to cover a purchase; and b. triggering one or more trades of the one or more securities according to the percentages defined in the trade parameters.
13 . The method of claim 12 , wherein the account comprises an educational spending account.
14 . The method of claim 13 , wherein the purchase comprises one or more products that are qualifiable for purchase with the educational spending account.
15 . The method of claim 14 , further comprising the step of qualifying the qualifiable products before the purchase is completed.
16 . The method of claim 12 , further comprising the step of storing one or more pending trade orders in a trade queue.
17 . The method of claim 16 , further comprising the step of determining, based on the one or more pending trade orders, whether the account has enough value before triggering the one or more trades.
18 . The method of claim 17 , further comprising the step of determining, based on one or more executed trade orders that have not settled, whether the account has enough value before triggering the one or more trades.
19 . The method of claim 17 , further comprising the step of determining, based on one or more executed trade orders that have not settled, whether the account has enough value, plus a buffer, before triggering the one or more trades.
20 . The method of claim 19 , wherein the buffer comprises a percentage of the purchase.
21 . The method of claim 18 , further comprising the step of providing credit to cover the purchase until the one or more executed trade orders that have not settled, settle, using an escrow account.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
