Claims

Abstract

An air fire lighter having fuel and a ducted axial fan for igniting a solid fuel fire. The fuel travels through the fire lighter to a distal end of the fire lighter and is ignited by an igniter. The flame is applied to solid fuel. As the solid fuel begins to glow at the initiation of the fire, the fan is activated, shutting off the vapors from the fuel. The fan blows air through a chamber onto the fire, causing the fire to spread throughout the solid fuel, establishing and spreading the fire through an ignition period. The chamber has a volume and ducting for providing optimal airflow to the fire. The fan is battery-operated. A further example embodiment of the air fire lighter has a pair of chamber barrels, a first barrel for the gaseous fuel and a second barrel housing the axial fan.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . An air fire lighter for starting a solid fuel fire, comprising:
 a pair of parallel chamber barrels, each with a distal end and a proximal end, a first chamber barrel configured for providing a flammable gas flame at the distal end, a second chamber barrel having at least one air duct at the proximal end in fluid communication with ambient air;   a mixing chamber in fluid communication with the first chamber barrel;   a fuel portion configured for coupling the mixing chamber to a flammable gas canister, said mixing chamber in fluid communication with said gas canister, said fuel portion having a holder for the gas canister;   a fan inside the second chamber barrel activated by a trigger after the flammable gas flame is ignited, the flame in turn igniting solid fuel, the fan operative for establishing and spreading the flame throughout the solid fuel, the fan blowing air through the second channel and out the chamber barrel onto the solid fuel, the air stimulating the flame in the solid fuel to a burning stage fire.   
     
     
         2 . The air fire lighter as described in  claim 1 , wherein the fuel portion has a gas control valve controlling gas flow from the canister into the mixing chamber. 
     
     
         3 . The air fire lighter as described in  claim 2 , wherein the mixing chamber has an air mixing vent operative for admitting air into the mixing chamber to form a flammable gas and air mixture. 
     
     
         4 . The air fire lighter as described in  claim 3 , wherein the mixing chamber has an air mixing control coupled to the air mixing vent, the air mixing control operative for optimizing the air and flammable gas mixture. 
     
     
         5 . The air fire lighter as described in  claim 4 , wherein the fuel portion has a coupler adapter for coupling the canister to said mixing chamber. 
     
     
         6 . The air fire lighter as described in  claim 5 , wherein the fan is downstream to the at least one air duct at the proximal end of the second chamber barrel. 
     
     
         7 . The air fire lighter as described in  claim 6 , wherein the fan is an axial fan having the rotation axis centered in the chamber barrel and parallel to the chamber barrel length, the fan configured for creating air pressure and flow within the housing. 
     
     
         8 . The air fire lighter as described in  claim 7 , wherein the first chamber barrel has an igniter module at the distal end of the first chamber barrel operative for generating a spark for igniting the gaseous fuel the flame, the flame operative for starting the solid fuel fire. 
     
     
         9 . The air fire lighter as described in  claim 8 , wherein the fan is battery-operated, the fan electrically coupled to at least one battery and the trigger. 
     
     
         10 . The air fire lighter as described in  claim 8 , wherein the trigger has a continuous button for operating the fan continuously. 
     
     
         11 . An air fire lighter for starting a solid fuel fire, comprising:
 a pair of chamber barrels, each with a distal end and a proximal end, a first chamber barrel configured for conveying a flammable gas, the first chamber barrel configured for providing a flammable gas flame at the distal end, a second chamber barrel having at least one air duct at the proximal end in fluid communication with ambient air;   a mixing chamber in fluid communication with the first chamber barrel, configured for mixing air with the flammable gas;   a fuel portion configured for coupling the mixing chamber to a flammable gas canister, said fuel portion having a coupler for coupling the canister to said mixing chamber, said mixing chamber in fluid communication with said gas canister, the fuel portion having a gas control valve controlling gas flow from the canister, said fuel portion having a holder for the gas canister;   a fan activated by a trigger, the fan directing air flow through the second mixing chamber and out the chamber barrel onto the solid fuel, the fan operative for establishing and spreading the flammable gas flame throughout the solid fuel, the air flow stimulating the flame to a burning stage fire.   
     
     
         12 . The air fire lighter as described in  claim 11 , wherein the mixing chamber has an air mixing vent operative for admitting air into the mixing chamber to form a flammable gas and air mixture. 
     
     
         13 . The air fire lighter as described in  claim 12 , wherein the mixing chamber has an air mixing control coupled to the air mixing vent, the air mixing control operative for optimizing the air and flammable gas mixture. 
     
     
         14 . The air fire lighter as described in  claim 13 , wherein the fan is downstream to the at least one air duct at the proximal end of the second chamber barrel. 
     
     
         15 . The air fire lighter as described in  claim 14 , wherein the fan is an axial fan having the rotation axis centered in the second chamber barrel and parallel to the chamber barrel length, the fan configured for creating air pressure within the second chamber barrel. 
     
     
         16 . The air fire lighter as described in  claim 15 , wherein the first chamber barrel has an igniter module at the distal end of the first chamber barrel operative for generating a spark for igniting the gaseous fuel the flame, the flame operative for starting the solid fuel fire. 
     
     
         17 . The air fire lighter as described in  claim 16 , wherein the second chamber barrel and fan is selectively detachable from the first chamber barrel, holder and mixing chamber, the second chamber barrel fan configured to directly attach to a flame-producing heat gun fueled by flammable gas. 
     
     
         18 . The air fire lighter as described in  claim 17 , wherein the fan is powered by a thermocouple exchanger. 
     
     
         19 . A method of using an air fire lighter to start a solid fuel fire, comprising:
 igniting a flame at a distal end of a first chamber barrel of an air fire lighter, said first chamber barrel configured for providing flammable gas, the first chamber barrel in fluid communication with a mixing chamber configured for mixing air with the flammable gas, the mixing chamber in fluid communication with a flammable gas canister;   applying the flame directly to a plurality of solid fuel pieces until the flame in the solid fuel pieces is at a glowing stage; and   activating an axial fan having an axis centered inside a second chamber barrel in the fire lighter parallel to the first chamber barrel, the fan operative for establishing and spreading the fire throughout the solid fuel, the fan blowing air through the second channel and out the chamber barrel onto the solid fuel, the air stimulating the flame in the solid fuel to a burning stage fire.   
     
     
         20 . The method of using the air fire lighter as described in  claim 19 , wherein the step of applying the flame directly to a plurality of solid fuel pieces is preceded by the step of adjusting the flame by adjusting a gas control valve controlling gas flow from the canister into the mixing chamber, further adjusting the flame by adjusting a air mixing control couple an air mixing vent on the mixing chamber, providing an optimized flammable gas and air mixture to the flame.
