Method and materials for proppant fracturing with telescoping flow conduit technology
Abstract
Acid-soluble plugs may be employed within telescoping devices to connect a reservoir face to a production liner without perforating. Such technology eliminates formation damage and debris removal associated with perforating, as well as reducing risk and time. The plugs may provide enough resistance to enable the telescoping devices to extend out from the production liner under hydraulic pressure. The plugs may then be dissolved in an acidic solution, which may also be used as the hydraulic extension fluid. After the plugs are substantially removed from the telescoping devices, the reservoir may be hydraulically fractured using standard fracturing processes.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A plug adapted for use in a conduit radially extensible from a pipe, wherein the plug comprises a material having an acid solubility greater than 70% and permeability of less than 10 mD.
2 . The plug of claim 1 , wherein the material comprises limestone.
3 . The plug of claim 1 , wherein the material comprises Indiana limestone.
4 . The plug of claim 1 , wherein the material has a compressive Young's modulus of at least 5,000 MPa.
5 . The plug of claim 1 , wherein the material has a permeability of about 3 mD or less.
6 . The plug of claim 1 , wherein the material has an acid solubility greater than 98% in a 10 weight percent dibasic acid solution.
7 . The plug of claim 1 , wherein the material has an acid solubility greater than 99% in a 15 weight percent hydrochloric acid solution.
8 . The plug of claim 1 , wherein the plug is adapted for use in a pipe selected from the group consisting of conductor pipe, casing, tubing, liner, and combinations thereof.
9 . The plug of claim 1 , wherein the material has a matrix formation, and the plug further comprises nanoparticles ingrained in the matrix formation.
10 . A flow conduit comprising an enveloping wall and two open, opposing ends and further comprising a plug as recited in claim 1 .Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
