Mobile Terminal Device Having Camera System

Abstract

The present invention is a camera system which is usable with a mobile terminal. The camera system includes a lens module and at least one mechanism for changing optical properties by interacting with the lens module. The camera system may be built into the mobile terminal or attached thereto as an external module

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A mobile terminal device with a telecommunications component and a camera system and the camera system having a first lens module which enables taking pictures with optical imaging properties, comprising:
 an external optical properties changing unit, wherein the external optical properties changing unit comprises at least one lens and at least one filer, and a diffractive optical element;   a snap-in connector for connecting the camera system of the mobile terminal device to the external optical properties changing unit;   the external optical properties changing unit placed connected to the lens module of the camera system; and   a controller configured to send control signals to the external optical properties changing unit to actuate objectives of the external optical properties changing unit.   
     
     
         2 . The mobile terminal device of  claim 1 , wherein the optical properties changing unit comprises a third lens. 
     
     
         3 . The mobile terminal device of  claim 1 , wherein the optical properties changing unit comprises an advanced zoom objective lens. 
     
     
         4 . The mobile terminal device of  claim 1 , wherein the snap-in connector configured to be detachably connected to a second location, wherein at the second location, the optical properties changing unit is not oriented with the first lens module of the camera system so as to enable taking pictures using the camera system. 
     
     
         5 . The mobile terminal device of  claim 1 , wherein the optical properties changing unit comprises an element selected from the group consisting of: a filter, a fixed lens, a zoom lens, and combinations thereof. 
     
     
         6 . The mobile terminal device of  claim 1 , wherein the optical properties changing unit comprises at least a close-up lens and a fixed lens. 
     
     
         7 . The mobile terminal device of  claim 1 , wherein the objectives of the external optical properties changing unit is at least one of an auto-focusing objective and a zoom objective.
