Water monitoring system
Abstract
An Anti-Terrorism water quality monitoring system for continuously monitoring a potable water treatment system and related potable water distribution network that provides potable water to a municipality, city, housing development or other potable water consumer. The system includes the collection of data from the water distribution system and from the water treatment facility and from advanced separation processes which are integrated into analytical instruments. The data collected are stored in a remote database on a remote server computer or bank of computers and accessible by Homeland Security or its designated agency. Preferred parameters of monitoring include the turbidity and disinfectant such as chlorine, hypochlorous acid, sodium hypochlorite, calcium hypochlorite, ozone, chlorine dioxide, chloramines, hydrogen peroxide, peracetic acid.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 - 32 . (canceled)
33 . A system for monitoring water utilities, the system comprising:
at least one data detection device configured to:
continuously scan for sensor data input and send the inputted sensor data to a data management device;
receive sensor data relevant to monitoring the water in a water utility system; and
manipulate the received sensor data; and
a data management device configured to:
receive the manipulated data sent from the data detection device;
evaluate the received data by continuously comparing the received sensor data with set alarm points;
manipulate the evaluated data into an analysis result;
display the analysis result in a color-coded graphical user interface, indicating normal system operation and alarm conditions;
the analysis result being continuously updated based on the incoming data and displayed in a graphical or tabular format.
34 . The system of claim 33 , wherein the data detection device is configured to send the stored data via an ftp protocol.
35 . The system of claim 33 , wherein the analysis result is a customized report including a work order with predefined inspection checklist.
36 . The system of claim 33 , wherein the analysis result is a customized report including a summary of work order and maintenance schedule.
37 . The system of claim 33 , wherein the analysis result is a customized report including a regulatory compliance report.
38 . The system of claim 33 , wherein the analysis result is a customized report including a trend modeling report when conditions appear likely to exceed normal alarm conditions.
39 . The system of claim 33 , wherein the analysis result is a customized report including a financial oversight report.
40 . The system of claim 33 , wherein the analysis result is a customized report including an exception report indicating instances where conditions were close to triggering an alarm.
41 . The system of claim 33 , wherein the data management device is further configured to display historical data in a geographical form.
42 . A system for monitoring water utilities, the system comprising:
at least one data detection device configured to:
receive sensor data relevant to monitoring the water in a water utility system; and
a data management device configured to:
receive the data from the data detection device;
evaluate the received data;
manipulate the evaluated data into an analysis result;
display the analysis result in a user interface; and
provide information relating to the analysis result to authorized individuals;
wherein the data detection device is configured to continuously scan for sensor data input and send the inputted sensor data to the data management device, and the data management device is configured to continuously compare the received sensor data with set alarm points and update the display based on newly received sensor data from the detection device.
43 . The system of claim 42 , wherein the data management device is further configured to display data in a geographical form.
44 . The system of claim 42 , wherein the providing of the information includes automatically sending the information to the authorized individuals using multimedia messaging including e-mail, pager, or facsimile.
45 . The system of claim 42 , wherein the data management device is further configured to display the analysis result graphically in a multi-color tabular format indicating normal system operation, warning status, and alarm condition.
46 . The system of claim 42 , wherein the data management device is further configured to display historical data concerning the water management system.
47 . The system of claim 42 , wherein the data management device is further configured to display historical data in a geographical form.
48 . A method for monitoring water utilities, the method comprising:
receiving, at a data management device, manipulated data sent from at least one data detection device, the at least one data detection device configured to:
continuously scan for sensor data input and send the inputted sensor data to a data management device;
receive sensor data relevant to monitoring the water in a water utility system; and
manipulate the received sensor data;
the data management device evaluating the received data by continuously comparing the received sensor data with set points; the data management device manipulating the evaluated data into an analysis result; and displaying the analysis result data in a color-coded graphical user interface, indicating normal system operation and alarm conditions; the analysis result being continuously updated based on the incoming data and displayed in a graphical format such that an individual having been authorized to access the analysis result can assess a current state of the system performance based on the display.
49 . A method for monitoring water utilities, the method comprising:
receiving, at a data management device, data from at least one data detection device configured to continuously scan for sensor data input and to receive sensor data relevant to monitoring the water in a water utility system; evaluating the received data by the data management device; manipulating the evaluated data into an analysis result at the data management device; displaying the analysis result in a user interface; the data management device continuously comparing the received sensor data with set points and updating the display based on newly received sensor data from the detection device.
50 . The system of claim 33 , further comprising determining that an individual is authorized to receive the analysis result, wherein the authorized individual can assess the current state of the system performance based on the display.
51 . The system of claim 33 , wherein the system is web-based.
52 . The method of claim 49 , further comprising providing information relating to the analysis result to authorized individuals.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
