Abstract
A method for using a mobile communication device to purchase a ticket for an event. The method comprises locating an event of interest to a user through the mobile communication device, displaying a seating map of a venue in which the event of interest is being held, the seating map being displayed on the mobile communication device, receiving user input selecting an available seat on the seating map, issuing an electronic ticket to the user for the seat, and storing the electronic ticket on the mobile communication device.

1 . A method for conducting a near field communication transaction, the method comprising:
receiving at a server transaction data associated with a near field communication (NFC) transaction from an NFC terminal; processing the NFC transaction at the server using the transaction data from the NFC terminal that is transmitted by a secure element embedded within the body of a mobile device comprising a mobile device processor, mobile device memory, and mobile device transceiver, the secure element operable to maintain a secure element application in a secure element memory and a secure element processor that initiates, in response to a near field communication interaction of the secure element with the NFC terminal using a transceiver capable of near field communications, execution of the secure element application, wherein the secure element sends the transaction data to the NFC terminal using the NFC transceiver.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the secure element application is an identity application and the transaction data includes identity credentials.
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the NFC terminal is a point-of-entry terminal.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the secure element application is a ticket application and the transaction data includes payment credentials.
5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the NFC terminal is a point-of-sale terminal.
6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the secure element application is a coupon application and the transaction data includes coupon information.
7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the NFC terminal is a point-of-sale terminal.
8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the NFC terminal transmits digital artifacts to the mobile device after the NFC transaction
9 . The method of claim 8 , where digital artifacts comprises one or more of tickets, coupons, and receipts.

The method of claim 1 , further wherein the server authenticates a user after the transaction data has been transferred from the NFC terminal, but prior to the transaction being processed and completed, wherein the NFC terminal receives manual user authentication based on a termination by the NFC terminal that manual user authentication is required and prompts the user.
11 . A server for conducting a near field communication transaction, the server comprising:
a server memory; a server interface coupled to the server memory, the server interface operable to receive transaction data associated with a near field communication (NFC) transaction with an NFC terminal, a server processor configured to conduct the near field communication (NFC) transaction with the NFC terminal and process the transaction using the transaction data transmitted to the NFC terminal by a secure element embedded within the body of a mobile device comprising a mobile device processor, mobile device memory, and mobile device transceiver wherein the secure element is operable to maintain a secure element application in a secure element memory and a secure element processor that initiates in response to a near field communication interaction of the secure element with the NFC terminal using a transceiver capable of near field communications, execution of the secure element application wherein the secure element sends transaction data to the NFC terminal using the NFC transceiver.
11 . The server of claim 11 , wherein the secure element application is an identity application and the transaction data includes identity credentials.
12 . The server of claim 11 , wherein the NFC terminal is a point-of-entry terminal.
13 . The server of claim 11 , wherein the secure element application is a ticket application and the transaction data includes payment credentials.
