Wireless Internet System and Method
Abstract
A method, system, and apparatus, including a program encoded on computer-readable medium, for transmitting data to a server. A wireless communication connection is established between a first computing device and a second computing device. Data transmitted from the first computing device to the second computing device is received over the wireless communication connection and stored on the second computing device for uploading to a server on an IP based network. The wireless communication connection is disconnected. An IP communication connection is established between the second computing device and the server on the IP based network, and at least a portion of the stored data is transmitted from the second computing device to the server on the IP based network over the IP communication connection after the wireless communication connection between the first computing device and the second computing device is disconnected.

1 . A computing device comprising:
a first communication module adapted to connect the computing device to an IP based network; and a second communication module adapted to wirelessly communicate with wireless enabled computing devices; data storage adapted to store data received through a wireless communication provided by the second communication module from a first device of the wireless enabled computing devices for uploading to a server on the IP based network; and control logic adapted to cause the first communication module to transmit at least a portion of the stored data received from the first device to the server after the wireless communication with the first device is disconnected.
2 . The computing device of claim 1 wherein the first communication module comprises a wireless communication module.
3 . The computing device of claim 1 wherein the control logic is adapted to cause the first communication module to transmit stored data received from the first device to the server when the first communication module is otherwise idle.
4 . The computing device of claim 1 wherein the control logic is adapted to cause the first communication module to transmit stored data that defines images.
5 . The computing device of claim 1 wherein data received through the wireless communication is encrypted.
6 . The computing device of claim 1 wherein data received from the first device through the wireless communication provided by the second communication module is sent to the server on the IP based network only after the wireless communication with the first device is disconnected.
7 . A method comprising:
establishing a wireless communication connection between a first computing device and a second computing device; receiving data transmitted from the first computing device to the second computing device over the wireless communication connection; storing, on the second computing device, the data received from the first computing device over the wireless communication connection for uploading to a server on an IP based network; disconnecting the wireless communication connection between the first computing device and the second computing device; establishing an IP communication connection between the second computing device and the server on the IP based network; and transmitting at least a portion of the stored data from the second computing device to the server on the IP based network over the IP communication connection after the wireless communication connection between the first computing device and the second computing device is disconnected.
8 . The method of claim 7 wherein the IP communication connection includes a wireless communication connection.
9 . The method of claim 7 wherein the stored data is transmitted by the second computing device when the IP communication connection is not being used to communicate with other servers.
10 . The method of claim 7 wherein the data defines one or more images.
11 . The method of claim 7 wherein data received over the wireless communication connection is encrypted.
12 . The method of claim 7 further comprising:
establishing a communication between the first computing device and the server on the IP based network; and
using the communication to confirm whether the data was properly received by the server.
13 . The method of claim 12 further comprising retransmitting at least a portion of the data to the server if the data was not properly received by the server.
14 . The method of claim 7 further comprising:
establishing a wireless communication connection between the first computing device and a third computing device;
receiving additional data transmitted from the first computing device to the third computing device over the wireless communication connection;
storing, on the third computing device, the additional data received from the first computing device over the wireless communication connection for uploading to the server on the IP based network;
disconnecting the wireless communication connection between the first computing device and the third computing device;
establishing an IP communication connection between the second computing device and the server on the IP based network; and
transmitting at least a portion of the stored additional data from the third computing device to the server on the IP based network over the IP communication connection after the wireless communication connection between the first computing device and the third computing device is disconnected.
15 . The method of claim 7 wherein stored data is transmitted from the second computing device to the server on the IP based network over the IP communication connection only after the wireless communication connection between the first computing device and the second computing device is disconnected.
16 . A system comprising:
a first computing device including:
a memory adapted to store data; and
a first wireless communication module;
an IP based network; a server connected to the IP based network, wherein the server is adapted to store data originating from the memory of the first computing device; and a second computing device including:
a second wireless communication module adapted to establish a wireless communication connection with the first wireless communication module of the first computing device;
data storage adapted to store data received through the wireless communication connection provided by the second wireless communication module from the first computing device for uploading to the server;
a third communication module adapted to establish an IP communication connection with the server over the IP based network; and
control logic adapted to cause the third communication module to transmit at least a portion of the stored data received from the second computing device to the server after the wireless communication connection with the first device is disconnected.
17 . The system of claim 16 wherein the IP communication connection includes a wireless communication connection.
18 . The system of claim 16 wherein the control logic is adapted to cause the third communication module to transmit stored data that defines images.
19 . The system of claim 16 wherein data received through the wireless communication connection is encrypted.
20 . The system of claim 16 wherein the first computing device is adapted to establish a communication with the server on the IP based network to confirm whether the data was properly received by the server.
21 . The system of claim 20 wherein the first computing device is adapted to retransmit at least a portion of the data for delivery to the server if the data was not properly received by the server.
22 . The system of claim 16 further comprising:
a third computing device including:
a fourth wireless communication module adapted to establish a second wireless communication connection with the first wireless communication module of the first computing device;
data storage adapted to store additional data received through the second wireless communication connection provided by the fourth wireless communication module from the first computing device for uploading to the server;
a fifth communication module adapted to establish an IP communication connection with the server over the IP based network; and
control logic adapted to cause the fifth communication module to transmit the stored additional data received from the third computing device to the server after the second wireless communication connection with the first device is disconnected.
23 .
