Abstract

A system monitors calls for a service provider. A number of simultaneous communications of a given technology type is monitored for either inbound communications and/or outbound communications associated with at least one service provider. A determination is made if the number of simultaneous communications from the service provider is in excess of a adjustable but set number of simultaneous communications of a given technology type that are permissible. A predetermined action is taken if the number of simultaneous calls or text messages (e.g., SMS, IM, email) is in excess of the set limit, e.g., the call may be terminated or other action taken. Both voice communications and/or non-voice communications (such as SMS, IM, Email, or MMS) can be monitored and throttled.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 - 15 . (canceled)

16 . A method to throttle data communication sessions, comprising:
predetermining a fixed amount of simultaneous data communication sessions from each of a plurality of service providers; receiving a report, from a data routing system that controls routing to a given agency capable of receiving a fixed number of simultaneous data communication sessions, for each communication session ingress to said data routing system; and immediately causing termination of a latest data communication session to ingress said data routing system when a service provider initiating said latest data communication session is associated with a plurality of simultaneous data communication sessions in excess of said predetermined amount; wherein any given service provider requesting ingress to said routing system is not permitted to monopolize resources associated with said given agency.

17 . The method to throttle data communication sessions according to claim 16 , wherein:
said simultaneous data communication sessions are of a common type communication.

18 . A system for throttling data communication sessions, comprising:
a central routing system to monitor a number of inbound data communication session requests, originating from a plurality of service providers, inbound over a common network; a state module to dynamically determine request attempts from a given one of said plurality of service providers in excess of a predetermined allowance for said given service provider on said common network; and an enforcement module to initiate a predetermined throttling action against said given service provider when said request attempts exceed said predetermined allowance for said given service provider.

19 . The system for throttling data communication sessions according to claim 18 , wherein:
said predetermined throttling action is a termination of said data communication session request determined to be in excess of said predetermined allowance.

20 . The system for throttling data communication sessions according to claim 18 , wherein:
said state module further dynamically determines a number of simultaneous inbound data communication sessions, originating from a plurality of service providers, inbound over said common network, in excess of a predetermined number.

21 . A method of throttling data communication sessions, comprising:
monitoring, from a central routing system, an amount of inbound data communication session requests, originating from a plurality of service providers, inbound over a common network; dynamically determining, from a state module, an amount of simultaneous data communication session requests originating from a given one of said plurality of service providers in excess of a predetermined allowance for said given service provider on said common network; and initiating a predetermined throttling action against said given service provider when said simultaneous data communication session requests exceed said predetermined allowance for said given service provider.

22 . The method of throttling data communication sessions according to claim 21 , wherein:
said predetermined throttling action is a termination of said data communication session requests determined to be in excess of said predetermined allowance.

23 . The method of throttling data communication sessions according to claim 21 , further comprising:
dynamically determining a number of simultaneous inbound data communication sessions, originating from a plurality of service providers, inbound over said common network, in excess of a predetermined number.

24 . The method of throttling data communication sessions according to claim 21 , wherein:
said predetermined throttling action is a default action.
