Abstract
A bat that includes a hollow body defining a interior volume extending within a barrel portion of the bat and a slidable mass having an passage that extends through the mass in the direction of movement. The slidable mass is contained within the interior volume or an added sleeve and is in contact with an interior circumference of the hollow body or sleeve. As a user swings the bat, the moment of inertia for the bat changes such that swing mechanics and timing are improved.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A bat, comprising:
a hollow body defining a interior volume extending within a barrel portion of the bat; and a slidable mass, wherein the slidable mass is contained and slides within a cylindrical sleeve and the cylindrical sleeve is in nested arrangement with an interior circumference of said hollow body.
2 . The bat of claim 1 , wherein said slidable mass further comprises a tapered conical weight.
3 . The bat of claim 1 , wherein said slidable mass further includes a passage that extends through the mass in the direction of movement.
4 . The bat of claim 1 , wherein said cylindrical sleeve has a hole near an end through which air passes when said slidable mass moves towards the hole.
5 . The bat of claim 1 , wherein said slidable mass is free from contact with any structure within said barrel except an inner surface of said cylindrical sleeve and an end cap of the bat or end fitting of the sleeve.
6 . The bat of claim 1 , wherein said nested arrangement comprises a space between said interior circumference and said sleeve.
7 . A kit, comprising:
a bat having a hollow body defining a interior volume extending within a barrel portion of the bat and a removable end cap on said barrel portion; a cylindrical sleeve configured to fit in nested arrangement with said interior volume of the bat; and a slidable mass, wherein the slidable mass is adapted to be contained and slide within, and is in contact with, an interior circumference of said sleeve.
8 . The kit of claim 7 , wherein said slidable mass further comprises a tapered conical weight.
9 . The kit of claim 7 , wherein said slidable mass further includes a passage that extends through the mass in the direction of movement.
10 . The kit of claim 7 , wherein said cylindrical sleeve has a hole near an end through which air passes when said slidable mass moves towards the hole.
11 . The kit of claim 7 , wherein said slidable mass is configured such that it is free from contact with any structure within said barrel except an inner surface of said cylindrical sleeve and an end cap of the bat or end fitting of the sleeve.
12 . The kit of claim 7 , wherein said nested arrangement comprises a space between said interior circumference and said sleeve.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
