Abstract
A method for automatically creating a short message and a portable terminal using the same includes extracting at least one word expected to be input from a database provided in the portable terminal when a message creation menu is selected. At least one input expected word that has been extracted is then displayed. At least one word that is recognized is selected from among the displayed at least one input expected word; and inputting the selected word to a text message creation window. A user can create a short message without having to input words one-by-one through a keyboard.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A portable terminal comprising:
a communication unit; a touch display screen; and a control unit configured to: display, via the touch display screen, a message received by the communication unit; in response to a request for creating a reply message to the received message, control the touch display screen to display a text message creation region, an input expected word display region, and a keypad, and to display input expected words in the input expected word display region before there is any character input in the text message creation region using the keypad; receive, via the touch display screen, a user input of selecting one of the input expected words; and control the touch display screen to display the selected input expected word in the text message creation region, wherein the displayed input expected words are automatically provided based on the received message.
2 . The portable terminal of claim 1 , further comprises a database for storing a plurality of input expected words, and
wherein the displayed input expected words are automatically provided from the database.
3 . The portable terminal of claim 1 , wherein the control unit is further configured to control the communication unit to transmit the selected input expected word displayed in the text message creation region.
4 . The portable terminal of claim 1 , wherein the control unit automatically provides the input expected words by analyzing the received message.
5 . The portable terminal of claim 4 , wherein the control unit is further configured to analyze the received message by dividing the received message into sentences, phrases, word-phrases, words, or special words.
6 . The portable terminal of claim 4 , wherein the control unit is further configured to analyze a sentence form of at least one sentence contained in the received message.
7 . The portable terminal of claim 4 , wherein the control unit is further configured to analyze an ending punctuation contained in the received message.
8 . The portable terminal of claim 1 , wherein if an interrogative sentence is contained in the received message, the input expected words are provided to correspond to the interrogative sentence.
9 . The portable terminal of claim 1 , wherein if a user input for selecting one of the input expected words displayed in the input expected word display region is received, the control unit is configured to control the touch display screen to display another set of input expected words corresponding to the selected input expected words in the input expected word display region.
10 . The portable terminal of claim 1 , wherein if a character input associated with phone book information included in a phonebook database is received in the text message creation region through the keypad, the control unit is further configured to control the touch display screen to display at least one of input expected words corresponding to information included in the phonebook database in the input expected word display region.
11 . The portable terminal of claim 1 , wherein if a character input associated with schedule information included in a schedule database is received in the text message creation region through the keypad, the control unit is further configured to control the touch display screen to display at least one of input expected words corresponding to information included in the schedule database in the input expected word display region.
12 . A portable terminal comprising:
a touch display screen; a database for storing, as input expected words, at least one of one or more predetermined words and one or more frequently used words; and a control unit configured to: in response to a request for creating a message, control the touch display screen to display a text message creation region, an input expected word display region, and a keypad, and to display input expected words in the input expected word display region before there is any character input in the text message creation region; receive, via the touch display screen, a user input of selecting one of the input expected words; and control the touch display screen to display the selected input expected word in the text message creation region, wherein the displayed input expected words are automatically provided based on the database.
13 . The portable terminal of claim 12 , wherein the frequently used word is a specific word used more than a predetermined number in a message.
14 . The portable terminal of claim 13 , wherein the control unit is further configured to control the communication unit to transmit the selected input expected word displayed in the text message creation region.
15 . A message creation method of a portable terminal, the method comprising:
displaying a received message; in response to a request for creating a reply message to the received message, displaying a text message creation region, an input expected word display region, and a keypad, and displaying input expected words in the input expected word display region before there is any character input in the text message creation region using the keypad; receiving, a user input of selecting one of the input expected words; and displaying the selected input expected word in the text message creation region, wherein the displayed input expected words are automatically provided based on the received message.
16 . The method of claim 15 , wherein the input expected words are provided by analyzing the received message.
17 . The method of claim 16 , wherein analyzing the received message comprises at least one of:
analyzing a sentence form of at least one sentence contained in the received message; and analyzing an ending punctuation contained in the received message.
18 . The method of claim 15 , further comprising:
displaying another set of input expected words corresponding to the selected input expected words in the input expected word display region.
19 . The method of claim 15 , further comprising:
if a character input associated with phone book information included in a phonebook database is received in the text message creation region through the keypad, displaying at least one of input expected words corresponding to information included in the phonebook database in the input expected word display region.
20 . The method of claim 15 , further comprising:
if a character input associated with schedule information included in a schedule database is received in the text message creation region through the keypad, displaying at least one of input expected words corresponding to information included in the schedule database in the input expected word display region.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
