Abstract

A method for reducing or preventing mesothelial cell damage by mixing a carrier gas and between 1 volume percent and 29 volume percent of nitrous oxide gas (N 2 O) to form a medicament and applying the medicament during surgery. The method can be used for prevention of adhesion formation, pain reduction, reducing or preventing acute inflammation, reducing or preventing CO 2 resorbtion or reducing tumor cell implantation upon surgery.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 - 31 . (canceled)

32 . A method for reducing or preventing mesothelial cell damage during surgery comprising the steps of:
mixing a carrier gas and nitrous oxide gas to form a medicament, wherein the nitrous oxide gas is between 1 volume percent and 29 volume percent, and applying the medicament during surgery to reduce or prevent mesothelial cell damage.

33 . The method of claim 32 , wherein the nitrous oxide gas is between 5 and 20 volume percent.

34 . The method of claim 33 , wherein the nitrous oxide gas is between 5 and 10 volume percent.

35 . The method of claim 32 , wherein the carrier gas is carbon dioxide gas.

36 . The method of claim 33 , wherein the solubility of the carrier gas is larger than 0.5 g/l in water.

37 . The method of claim 32 , wherein applying the medicament comprises flowing the medicament in or over a cavity during surgery in a cavity.

38 . The method of claim 32 , wherein applying the medicament comprises flowing the medicament during pneumoperitoneum.

39 . The method of claim 32 , wherein applying the medicament comprises flowing the medicament during open surgery.

40 . The method according to claim 32 , wherein applying the medicament during surgery furthermore comprises applying the medicament for reducing or preventing pain.

41 . The method according to claim 32 , wherein applying the medicament during surgery furthermore comprises applying the medicament for reducing or preventing acute inflammation.

42 . The method according to claim 32 , wherein applying the medicament during surgery furthermore comprises applying the medicament for reducing or preventing CO2 resorbtion.

43 . The method according to claim 32 , wherein applying the medicament during surgery furthermore comprises applying the medicament for reducing tumor implantation reduction.

44 . The method according to claim 32 , wherein applying the medicament during surgery furthermore comprises applying the medicament for reducing or preventing adhesion formation.
