Abstract

A method for assessing physical performance may include receiving first performance data relating to an activity performed by a user, and generating a first performance profile. The method also may include generating a first comparison by comparing the first performance data to a second performance profile relating to the activity, and generating feedback based on the first comparison by indicating whether the first performance profile deviated from the second performance profile.

         25 . A method for remotely assessing compliance with a routine, the method comprising:
 receiving, over a network, first compliance data relating to an activity performed by a user, wherein the activity is one of a plurality of physical activities included in the routine and the first compliance data is collected by a device coupled to at least one of the user or an implement used to perform the activity;   generating a first compliance profile based on the first compliance data;   generating a first comparison by comparing the first compliance profile to a second compliance profile relating to the activity;   generating feedback based on the first comparison by indicating whether the first compliance profile deviated from the second compliance profile; and   transmitting the feedback to the user or to a third party.   
     
     
         26 . The method of  claim 25 , wherein the first and second compliance profiles are based on one or more of an alignment of the user at one or more time periods during the activity, an alignment of a ball at one or more time periods during the activity, an actual alignment of the ball at one or more time periods during the activity, an ideal alignment of the user at one or more time periods during the activity, an ideal alignment of the ball at one or more time periods during the activity, peak watts, average watts, speed of activity performed, force of activity performed, rotational explosiveness, force over time, and a deviation from an ideal compliance profile. 
     
     
         27 . The method of  claim 26 , wherein the second compliance profile represents an acceptable or ideal compliance profile for the activity. 
     
     
         28 . The method of  claim 25 , further including transmitting instructions to the user to complete one or more additional activities of the routine. 
     
     
         29 . The method of  claim 28 , wherein the instructions are generated based on the first comparison. 
     
     
         30 . The method of  claim 25 , wherein the first comparison determines whether the user performed the activity with a proper technique. 
     
     
         31 . The method of  claim 25 , wherein the first comparison determines whether the user is performing physical activity at a level that exceeds a level prescribed by the routine. 
     
     
         32 . The method of  claim 25 , wherein transmitting feedback includes alerting the third party that the user is deviating from a prescribed routine. 
     
     
         33 . The method of  claim 32 , wherein transmitting feedback includes sending an instruction to the user to cease performance of the activity. 
     
     
         34 . The method of  claim 32 , wherein transmitting feedback includes scheduling an appointment for the user with the third party if the user deviates from the prescribed routine. 
     
     
         35 . The method of  claim 25 , wherein transmitting feedback includes cancelling a previously-scheduled appointment for the user with the third party if the user does not deviate from a prescribed routine. 
     
     
         36 . The method of  claim 25 , wherein transmitting feedback includes making a recommendation that the user reduce an amount of force associated with performance of the activity. 
     
     
         37 . The method of  claim 25 , wherein transmitting feedback includes making a recommendation that the user alter a technique used to perform the activity. 
     
     
         38 . The method of  claim 25 , wherein the first compliance data is transmitted from the device to a mobile computing device. 
     
     
         39 . The method of  claim 38 , wherein receiving first compliance data includes receiving compliance data from the mobile computing device. 
     
     
         40 . A method for remotely assessing compliance with a first routine, the method comprising:
 receiving, over a network, first compliance data relating to a first activity performed by a user, wherein the first activity is part of the first routine to be completed by the user and the first compliance data is collected by a device coupled to at least one of the user or an implement used to perform the first activity;   generating a first compliance profile;   generating a first comparison by comparing the first compliance profile to a second compliance profile relating to the first activity;   altering an intensity of a second activity to be performed by the user based on the first comparison, wherein the second activity is part of a second routine to be completed by the user; and   transmitting instructions to the user for performing the second activity.   
     
     
         41 . The method of  claim 40 , wherein the first activity and the second activity are the same activity performed at different intensity levels. 
     
     
         42 . A method for remotely assessing patient compliance with a physical therapy routine to facilitate recovery of a user from an injury, the method comprising:
 receiving, over a network, first compliance data relating to an activity performed by the user, the activity being part of a first routine and the first compliance data being collected by a device coupled to at least one of the user or an implement used to perform the activity;   generating a first compliance profile;   generating a first comparison by comparing the first compliance profile to an acceptable or ideal compliance profile relating to the activity;   adjusting an intensity of the same activity in a second routine to be performed by the user based on the first comparison; and   transmitting instructions for performing the second routine to the user.   
     
     
         43 . The method of  claim 42 , wherein the intensity of the same activity in the second routine is increased from the first routine if the first comparison indicates that the user performed the activity with a proper technique. 
     
     
         44 . The method of  claim 42 , wherein the intensity of the same activity in the second routine is decreased from the first routine if the first comparison indicates that the user performed the activity with an improper technique.
