Abstract
A drain cover comprises a grate having an upper surface, a lower surface and a peripheral edge defining a space having an axis substantially normal to the peripheral edge and at least one cross piece extending within the space at substantially right angles to the axis of the space. A skirt depends downwardly from near the peripheral edge of the grate on the lower surface along at least a part of the peripheral edge. Securing means are provided for securing the grate.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A drain cover comprising:
a grate having an upper surface, a lower surface and a peripheral edge defining a space having an axis substantially normal to the peripheral edge and at least one cross piece extending within the space at substantially right angles to the axis of the space; a skirt depending downwardly from near the peripheral edge of the grate on the lower surface along at least a part of the peripheral edge; and securing means for securing the grate.
2 . A drain cover as claimed in claim 1 further comprising a pipe having an axis for connection to the drain cover, the pipe having an end cut at an angle other than normal to the axis of the pipe such that the downwardly depending skirt is received within the end of the pipe.
3 . A grate as claimed in claim 1 wherein the securing means for securing the grate comprises a first set screw received in a threaded aperture formed at one end in the peripheral edge of the grate.
4 . A grate as claimed in claim 1 wherein the securing means for securing the grate further comprises a second set screw received in a threaded aperture formed at the other end in the peripheral edge of the grate.
5 . A drain cover as claimed in claim 1 wherein at least one of the cross pieces has a T-shaped cross-section.
6 . A drain cover as claimed in claim 1 comprising a plurality of cross pieces and wherein all of the cross pieces have a T-shaped cross-section.
7 . A drain cover and pipe combination, the combination comprising:
a drain cover including a shaped frame portion defining a space, the space having an axis substantially perpendicular to the frame, and at least one cross piece located in the space so as to define a plurality of openings in the drain cover; a pipe having a longitudinal axis, an open end and an inner diameter, the open end of the pipe being connected to the drain cover which substantially covers the open end of the pipe; a skirt depending downwardly from near the peripheral edge of the drain cover on the lower surface thereof along at least a part of the peripheral edge, the skirt being adjacent to the inner diameter of the pipe; and securing means for securing the drain cover to the pipe.
8 . A drain cover and pipe combination as claimed in claim 7 wherein the drain cover and pipe are at an angle relative to each other.
9 . A drain cover and pipe combination as claimed in claim 7 wherein the angle between the drain cover and the pipe is selected depending upon the slope or angle of a surface or substrate in which the drain cover and pipe combination are located.
10 . A drain cover and pipe combination as claimed in claim 7 wherein the cross piece has a T-shaped cross-section.
11 . A drain cover as claimed in claim 10 comprising a plurality of cross pieces and wherein all of the cross pieces have a T-shaped cross-section.
12 . A drain cover comprising:
a grate having an upper surface, a lower surface and a peripheral edge defining a space having an axis substantially normal to the peripheral edge and at least one cross piece extending within the space at substantially right angles to the axis of the space; and a skirt depending downwardly from near the peripheral edge of the grate on the lower surface along at least a part of the peripheral edge.
13 . A drain cover as claimed in claim 12 further comprising securing means for securing the grate.
14 . A drain cover as claimed in claim 12 wherein the securing means comprises a first set screw at one end of the grate and a second set screw at and opposing edge of the grate.
15 . A drain cover as claimed in claim 12 wherein each cross piece is of T-shaped cross-section having a substantially horizontal component defining the upper surface of the grate and a substantially vertical component depending downwardly from the horizontal component.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
