Abstract
An approach is provided for managing desktop components. A device determines to facilitate access to at least one interface for subscribing to one or more inputs of one or more desktop components, advertising the availability of one or more subscriptions to one or more outputs of the one or more desktop components, publishing the one or more outputs of the one or more desktop components, or a combination thereof. The one or more desktop components generate the one or more outputs based, at least in part, on the one or more inputs.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A method comprising:
determining to facilitate access to at least one interface for subscribing to one or more inputs of one or more desktop components, advertising the availability of one or more subscriptions to one or more outputs of the one or more desktop components, publishing the one or more outputs of the one or more desktop components, or a combination thereof, wherein the one or more desktop components generate the one or more outputs based, at least in part, on the one or more inputs; and wherein the one or more subscriptions are hosted by a plurality of platforms, the plurality of platforms including, at least in part, one or more local platforms, one or more cloud-based platforms, or a combination thereof.
2 . A method of claim 1 , wherein the one or more subscriptions are managed by the one or more cloud-based platforms, and wherein the one or more desktop components are hosted by the one or more local platforms.
3 . A method of claim 1 , wherein the one or more inputs and the one or more outputs of respective ones of the one or more desktop components define respective boundaries of the one or more desktop components within a desktop space, the method further comprising:
causing, at least in part, a replication of the one or more desktop components from the one or more local platforms to the one or more cloud-based platforms.
4 . A method of claim 3 , further comprising:
providing the one or more subscriptions to one or more subscribers from the one or more local platforms, the one or more cloud-based platforms, or a combination thereof based, at least in part, on the replication.
5 . A method of claim 1 , further comprising:
causing, at least in part, a semantic categorization of the one or more desktop components, the one or more inputs, the one or more outputs, the one or more subscriptions, or a combination thereof.
6 . A method of claim 1 , further comprising:
causing, at least in part, a filtering of the one or more desktop components, the one or more inputs, the one or more outputs, the one or more subscriptions, or a combination thereof based, at least in part, on the semantic categorization.
7 . A method of claim 1 , further comprising:
causing, at least in part, a specification of one or more range values for the one or more inputs, one or more size parameters for the one or more desktop components, or a combination thereof.
8 . A method of claim 1 , wherein the one or more subscriptions are based, at least in part, on the one or more range value, the one or more size parameters, or a combination thereof.
9 . A method of claim 1 , wherein the one or more local components include one or more user equipment.
10 . A method of claim 1 , wherein the one or more subscriptions are advertised via a semantic space describing availability of the one or more desktop components; wherein the one or more inputs for the one or more desktop components correspond to one or more outputs of at least a first desktop component, and the one or more outputs of the one or more desktop components correspond to one or more inputs for at least a second desktop component; and wherein the first desktop component is subscribed to by the second desktop component, the second desktop component determines to transform the input from the first desktop component and output information to a third desktop component that subscribes to the second desktop component.
11 . An apparatus comprising:
at least one processor; and at least one memory including computer program code for one or more programs, the at least one memory and the computer program code configured to, with the at least one processor, cause the apparatus to perform at least the following, determine to facilitate access to at least one interface for subscribing to one or more inputs of one or more desktop components, advertising the availability of one or more subscriptions to one or more outputs of the one or more desktop components, publishing the one or more outputs of the one or more desktop components, or a combination thereof, wherein the one or more desktop components generate the one or more outputs based, at least in part, on the one or more inputs; and wherein the one or more subscriptions are hosted by a plurality of platforms, the plurality of platforms including, at least in part, one or more local platforms, one or more cloud-based platforms, or a combination thereof.
12 . An apparatus of claim 11 , wherein the one or more subscriptions are managed by the one or more cloud-based platforms, and wherein the one or more desktop components are hosted by the one or more local platforms.
13 . An apparatus of claim 11 , wherein the one or more inputs and the one or more outputs of respective ones of the one or more desktop components define respective boundaries of the one or more desktop components within a desktop space, and wherein the apparatus is further caused to:
cause, at least in part, a replication of the one or more desktop components from the one or more local platforms to the one or more cloud-based platforms.
14 . An apparatus of claim 13 , wherein the apparatus is further caused to:
provide the one or more subscriptions to one or more subscribers from the one or more local platforms, the one or more cloud-based platforms, or a combination thereof based, at least in part, on the replication.
15 . An apparatus of claim 11 , wherein the apparatus is further caused to:
cause, at least in part, a semantic categorization of the one or more desktop components, the one or more inputs, the one or more outputs, the one or more subscriptions, or a combination thereof.
16 . An apparatus of claim 11 , wherein the apparatus is further caused to:
cause, at least in part, a filtering of the one or more desktop components, the one or more inputs, the one or more outputs, the one or more subscriptions, or a combination thereof based, at least in part, on the semantic categorization.
17 . An apparatus of claim 11 , wherein the apparatus is further caused to:
cause, at least in part, a specification of one or more range values for the one or more inputs, one or more size parameters for the one or more desktop components, or a combination thereof.
18 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium comprising one or more sequences of one or more instructions which, when executed by one or more processors, cause an apparatus to at least perform the following steps:
determining to facilitate access to at least one interface for subscribing to one or more inputs of one or more desktop components, advertising the availability of one or more subscriptions to one or more outputs of the one or more desktop components, publishing the one or more outputs of the one or more desktop components, or a combination thereof, wherein the one or more desktop components generate the one or more outputs based, at least in part, on the one or more inputs; and wherein the one or more subscriptions are hosted by a plurality of platforms, the plurality of platforms including, at least in part, one or more local platforms, one or more cloud-based platforms, or a combination thereof.
19 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 18 , wherein the one or more subscriptions are managed by the one or more cloud-based platforms, and wherein the one or more desktop components are hosted by the one or more local platforms.
20 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 18 , wherein the one or more inputs and the one or more outputs of respective ones of the one or more desktop components define respective boundaries of the one or more desktop components within a desktop space, and wherein the apparatus is further caused to perform:
causing, at least in part, a replication of the one or more desktop components from the one or more local platforms to the one or more cloud-based platforms.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
