Abstract

A ratio of data transmission power of a layer per RE to RS transmission power of the layer per RE is predefined according to rank. A BS determines downlink transmission power for a PDSCH according to the predefined rank and a UE assumes that the PDSCH and UE-specific RS(s) for the PDSCH is transmitted with power satisfying the ratio.

13 . A method for transmitting, by a base station (BS), downlink data to a user equipment (UE) comprising:
determining power per data resource element (RE), to which the downlink data is mapped, for each layer of the downlink data and power per reference signal (RS) RE, to which one or more UE-specific RSs for the downlink data is mapped, for each layer of the downlink data; and transmitting the downlink data and the one or more UE-specific RSs for the downlink data based on the determined powers, wherein a power ratio between the power per data RE for each layer of the downlink data and the power per RS RE for each layer of the downlink data is predefined according to a rank of the downlink data.

14 . The method of claim 13 , wherein the same number of UE-specific RSs as the rank of the downlink data are transmitted to the UE.

15 . The method of claim 13 , wherein the power ratio is predefined to be a first value for rank-1 and rank-2, and a second value different from the first value otherwise.

16 . The method of claim 15 , wherein the first value is “0 dB”, and the second value is “−3 dB.”

17 . A base station (BS) configured to transmit downlink data to a user equipment (UE) comprising:
a transmitter, and a processor, operatively coupled to the transmitter, configured to determine power per data resource element (RE), to which the downlink data is mapped, for each layer of the downlink data and power per reference signal (RS) RE, to which one or more UE-specific RSs for the downlink data is mapped, for each layer of the downlink data; and control the transmitter to transmit the downlink data and the one or more UE-specific RSs based on the determined powers, wherein a power ratio between the power per data RE for each layer of the downlink data and the power per RS RE for each layer of the downlink data is predefined according to a rank of the downlink data.

18 . The BS of claim 17 , wherein the same number of UE-specific RSs as the rank of the downlink data are transmitted to the UE.

19 . The BS of claim 17 , wherein the power ratio is predefined to be a first value for rank-1 and rank-2, and a second value different from the first value otherwise.

20 . The BS of claim 19 , wherein the first value is “0 dB”, and the second value is “−3 dB.”

21 . A method for receiving, by a user equipment (UE), downlink data, comprising:
receiving the downlink data and one or more UE-specific reference signals (RSs) for the downlink data; and demodulating the downlink data based on the one or more UE-specific RSs and based on a power ratio between power per data resource element (RE), to which the downlink data is mapped, for each layer of the downlink data and power per reference signal (RS) RE, to which the one or more UE-specific RSs for the downlink data is mapped, for each layer of the downlink data, wherein the power ratio is predefined according to a rank of the downlink data.

22 . The method of claim 21 , wherein the same number of UE-specific RSs as the rank of the downlink data are received by the UE.

23 . The method of claim 21 , wherein the power ratio is predefined to be a first value for rank-1 or rank-2, and a second value different from the first value otherwise.

24 . The method of claim 23 , wherein the first value is “0 dB”, and the second value is “−3 dB.”

25 . A user-equipment (UE) configured to receive downlink data, comprising:
a receiver, and a processor, operatively coupled to the receiver, configured to receive the downlink data and one or more UE-specific reference signals (RSs) for the downlink data; and configured to demodulate the downlink data based on the one or more UE-specific RSs and based on a power ratio between power per data resource element (RE), to which the downlink data is mapped, for each layer of the downlink data and power per reference signal (RS) RE, to which the one or more UE-specific RSs for the downlink data is mapped, for each layer of the downlink data, wherein the power ratio is predefined according to a rank of the downlink data.
