Method for receiving enhanced service and display apparatus thereof

Abstract

Provided are a method of receiving an enhanced service and a video display device thereof. The method includes: receiving an audio-visual (AV) content; extracting first feature information from the received AV content; receiving a database including at least one of content information, enhanced service information, and an enhanced service, which correspond to the first feature information, from a first server by transmitting the extracted first feature information to the first server; storing the database received from the first server in a memory; extracting second feature information from the received AV content; and searching and obtaining one of content information, enhanced service information, and an enhanced service, which correspond to the extracted feature information, from the database.

1 . A control method of a video display device including a display unit, the method comprising:
 receiving a broadcasting signal through a tuner;   receiving a first audio signal other than the broadcasting signal through a receiving unit;   obtaining a first feature information from the received first audio signal;   transmitting a first query based on the obtained first feature information to a server;   receiving a response, from the server, based on the first query; and   executing an application based on the response.   
     
     
         2 . The control method according to  claim 1 , further comprising:
 storing the response in a memory;   receiving a second audio signal other than the first audio signal;   obtaining a second feature information from the received second audio signal; and   executing the application corresponding to the second feature information which is matched to the stored response.   
     
     
         3 . The control method according to  claim 2 , wherein executing the application comprises,
 outputting a user interface for selecting a menu of the enhanced service and   obtaining an enhanced service according to the input based on the user interface for selecting and outputting the enhanced service through the display unit.   
     
     
         4 . The control method according to  claim 3 , further comprising:
 receiving an input for controlling the enhanced service from a terminal device other than the video display device.   
     
     
         5 . A video display device comprising:
 a tuner for receiving a broadcasting signal;   a receiving unit for receiving a first audio signal other than the broadcasting signal;   an enhanced service management unit for obtaining a first feature information from the received first audio signal and executing an application based on a response; and   a data transmitting/receiving unit for transmitting a first query based on the obtained first feature information to a server and receiving the response, from the server, based on the first query.   
     
     
         6 . The device according to  claim 5 ,
 wherein the receiving unit receives a second audio signal other than the first audio signal, and   wherein the enhanced service management unit stores the response in a memory,   receives a second audio signal other than the first audio signal, obtains a second feature information from the received second audio signal and executes the application corresponding to the second feature information which is matched to the stored response.   
     
     
         7 . The device according to  claim 6 ,
 wherein the enhanced service management unit outputs a user interface for selecting a menu of the enhanced service, obtains an enhanced service according to the input based on the user interface for selecting, and outputs the enhanced service through the display unit.   
     
     
         8 . The device according to  claim 7 ,
 wherein the enhanced service management unit receives an input for controlling the enhanced service from a terminal device, other than the video display device.
