System and method for presenting user generated digital information
Abstract
A system and method for presenting user generated digital information. The system includes geo-located objects (GLOBs), GLOB Data Sheets (GDSs), a grouping of GLOBs, an implicit location module and a display device. The plurality of geo-located objects (GLOBs) includes at least one GLOB having a geographic location tag generated by a location component. Each GLOB Data Sheets (GDSs) among the plurality of GDSs is associated with a GLOB among the plurality of GLOBs. The grouping of GLOBs is configured to be organized based on location. The implicit location module geocodes at least one digital information objects that does not have a corresponding location by interpolating along a path between a first GLOB that has a first location determined with a first geographic location tag and a second GLOB that has a location determined with a second geographic location tag. The display device presents the organized grouping of GLOBs.

1 . A system for presenting user generated digital information, comprising:
a plurality of geo-located objects (GLOBs), in which at least one GLOB includes a geographic location tag generated by a location component; a plurality of GLOB Data Sheets (GDSs), wherein each GDS among the plurality of GDSs is associated with a GLOB among the plurality of GLOBs, wherein each GDS includes one or more data fields storing auxiliary information associated with the GLOB; a grouping of GLOBs configured to be organized based on location; an implicit location module that geocodes at least one digital information objects that does not have a corresponding location by interpolating along a path between a first GLOB that has a first location determined with a first geographic location tag and a second GLOB that has a location determined with a second geographic location tag; and a display device configured to present the organized grouping of GLOBs.
2 . The system as recited in claim 1 , wherein a type of the digital information object includes at least one of a picture, a video, an audio, a sensor measurement, a map, a document, a recorded location log, an automotive telemetry, a weather report, and a news item.
3 . The system as recited in claim 1 , further comprising an input system enabling the user to specify the location of one or more GLOBs among the plurality of GLOBs.
4 . The system as recited in claim 1 , wherein the display device is further configured to present a map, wherein the input system enables the user to click on the map to specify the location of the one or more GLOBs among the plurality of GLOBs.
5 . The system as recited in claim 1 , further comprising a storage unit receiving a plurality of third party content from a remote server, wherein each GLOB, each GDS, and the grouping of GLOBs are generated using the plurality of third party content.
6 . The system as recited in claim 1 , further comprising a storage unit that is remote from the system, wherein at least one of the GDS and the plurality of GLOBs are stored in the storage unit.
7 . The system as recited in claim 1 , wherein the one or more auxiliary data fields are searchable.
8 . The system as recited in claim 1 , wherein the display device is further configured to display the auxiliary information extracted from the GDS.
9 . The system as recited in claim 1 further comprising,
an input system enabling the user to specify the location of one or more GLOBs among the plurality of GLOBs;
wherein the display device is further configured to present a map, wherein the input system enables the user to click on the map to specify the location of the one or more GLOBs among the plurality of GLOBs;
wherein the one or more auxiliary data fields are searchable; and
wherein the display device is further configured to display the auxiliary information extracted from the GDS.
10 . The system as recited in claim 9 , wherein a type of the digital information object includes at least one of a picture, a video, an audio, a sensor measurement, a map, a document, a recorded location log, an automotive telemetry, a weather report, and a news item.
11 . A method for presenting user generated digital information, comprising the steps of:
receiving a plurality of geo-located objects (GLOBs), in which at least one GLOB includes a geographic location tag generated by a location component; generating a plurality of GLOB Data Sheets (GDSs), wherein each GDS among the plurality of GDSs is associated with a GLOB among the plurality of GLOBs, each GDS including one or more auxiliary data fields storing auxiliary information associated with the GLOB; storing the plurality of GDSs in a GDS repository, wherein the GDS repository is configured to be searched according to one or more of the data fields storing auxiliary information associated with the GLOB; organizing a grouping of GLOBs based on location; geocoding at least one digital information objects that does not have a corresponding location with an implicit location module by interpolating along a path between a first GLOB that has a first location determined with a first geographic location tag and a second GLOB that has a location determined with a second geographic location tag; and displaying the organized grouping of GLOBs on a display device.
12 . The method as recited in claim 11 , wherein a type of the digital information object includes at least one of a picture, a video, an audio, a sensor measurement, a map, a document, a recorded location log, an automotive telemetry, a weather report, and a news item.
13 . The method as recited in claim 11 , further comprising the step of enabling a user to specify the location of one or more GLOBs among the plurality of GLOBs.
14 . The method as recited in claim 11 , further comprising the steps of:
displaying a map on the display device; and enabling a user to click on the map to specify the location of one or more GLOBs among the plurality of GLOBs.
15 . The method as recited in claim 11 , further comprising the step of receiving a plurality of third party content, wherein the plurality of GDSs and the grouping of GLOBs are generated using the plurality of third party content.
16 . The method as recited in claim 11 , wherein the one or more auxiliary data fields are searchable.
17 . The method as recited in claim 11 , further comprising the step of displaying on the display device the auxiliary information extracted from a GDS among the plurality of GDSs.
18 . The method as recited in claim 11 , wherein the step of receiving the plurality of GLOBs includes the steps of:
collecting a plurality of digital information objects; and associating one or more objects among the plurality of digital information objects with one or more locations among a plurality of locations, resulting in the plurality of GLOBs.
19 . The method as recited in claim 11 further comprising,
enabling a user to specify the location of one or more GLOBs among the plurality of GLOBs;
displaying a map on the display device;
enabling a user to click on the map to specify the location of one or more GLOBs among the plurality of GLOBs;
enabling at least one auxiliary data fields to be searchable;
displaying on the display device the auxiliary information extracted from a GDS among the plurality of GDSs.
