Abstract

A method for configuring computer operational parameters comprising detecting with at least one processor at least one peripheral device in communication with the at least one processor; receiving, with the at least one processor from at least one of a plurality of communication ports constructed and arranged to interface with the at least one peripheral device, data about the at least one peripheral device, the data comprising at least one location of the at least one peripheral device; identifying with the at least one processor at least one profile associated with the peripheral device data; and adjusting at least one operational parameter based on the at least one profile.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A computer comprising:
 at least one processor;   at least one database in communication with the at least one processor;   a plurality of communication ports in communication with the at least one processor constructed and arranged to interface with at least one peripheral device;   at least one housing containing the at least one processor; and   a plurality of retention structures associated with and separate from at least one of the communication ports disposed on the at least one housing constructed and arranged to attach the at least one peripheral device to the at least one housing.   
     
     
         2 . A peripheral device comprising:
 at least one peripheral data storage containing peripheral configuration data;   at least one peripheral communication port in communication with the at least one peripheral data storage constructed and arranged to interface with at least one computer; and   at least one peripheral retention structure separate from the at least one peripheral communication port constructed and arranged to interface with at least one retention structure disposed on the at least one computer;   wherein the at least one peripheral retention structure comprises at least one retention post constructed and arranged to interface with at least one retention housing containing at least one retractable plunger such that when the at least one retention post is disposed within the at least one retention housing, the at least one retention post is held in place by the at least one retractable plunger.   
     
     
         3 . A peripheral device comprising:
 at least one peripheral data storage containing peripheral configuration data;   at least one peripheral communication port in communication with the at least one peripheral data storage constructed and arranged to interface with at least one computer; and   at least one peripheral retention structure separate from the at least one peripheral communication port constructed and arranged to interface with at least one retention structure disposed on the at least one computer;   wherein the at least one peripheral retention structure comprises at least one retention housing containing at least one retractable plunger constructed and arranged to interface with at least one retention post such that when the at least one retention post is disposed within the at least one retention housing, the at least one retention post is held in place by the at least one retractable plunger.   
     
     
         4 . A peripheral device comprising:
 at least one peripheral data storage containing peripheral configuration data;   at least one peripheral communication port in communication with the at least one peripheral data storage constructed and arranged to interface with at least one computer; and   at least one peripheral retention structure separate from the at least one peripheral communication port constructed and arranged to interface with at least one retention structure disposed on the at least one computer;   wherein the at least one peripheral retention structure comprises at least one retention tongue constructed and arranged to interface with at least one retention channel and at least one retention cutout constructed and arranged to interface with at least one retractable retention element such that when the at least one retention tongue is disposed within the at least one retention channel, the at least one retractable retention element is held in place within the at least one retention cutout.   
     
     
         5 . A peripheral device comprising:
 at least one peripheral data storage containing peripheral configuration data;   at least one peripheral communication port in communication with the at least one peripheral data storage constructed and arranged to interface with at least one computer; and   at least one peripheral retention structure separate from the at least one peripheral communication port constructed and arranged to interface with at least one retention structure disposed on the at least one computer;   wherein the at least one peripheral retention structure comprises at least one retention channel constructed and arranged to interface with at least one retention tongue and at least one retractable retention element constructed and arranged to interface with at least one retention cutout such that when the at least one retention tongue is disposed within the at least one retention channel, the at least one retractable retention element is held in place within the at least one retention cutout.   
     
     
         6 . A method for controlling a computer comprising:
 rigidly attaching a plurality of peripheral devices to a housing containing at least one processor through a plurality of communication ports disposed on at least one surface of the housing such that the plurality of peripheral devices are in communication with the at least one processor and adjust at least one operational parameter of the at least one processor, each of the plurality of peripheral devices having a contour corresponding to a human hand; and   manipulating a physical position of the housing by grasping the plurality of attached peripheral devices.
