Abstract

Embodiments of golf coupling mechanisms are presented herein. Other examples and related methods are also disclosed herein.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A golf club head comprising:
 a club head body comprising:
 a fairway wood-type club head body; 
 a sole comprising a sole bottom end; and 
 a hosel; 
   a shaft sleeve insertable into the hosel and configured to repositionably couple a golf club shaft with the hosel; and   a securing fastener configured to secure the shaft sleeve in the hosel;   wherein:
 the hosel comprises:
 a hosel top coupler; and 
 a hosel bore configured to receive the shaft sleeve; 
 
 the shaft sleeve comprises:
 a sleeve top coupler configured to engage the hosel top coupler and restrict a rotation of the shaft sleeve relative to the club head body when the shaft sleeve is inserted in the hosel bore and secured by the securing fastener; 
 a sleeve bore configured to receive an end of the golf club shaft; and 
 a shaft sleeve center of gravity; 
 
 the golf club head further comprises an assembled club head center of gravity when the club head body is assembled with the shaft sleeve and the securing fastener; 
 the assembled club head center of gravity is located at an assembled club head CG vertical distance relative to the sole bottom end; 
 and 
 when the golf club head is at an address position, with the shaft sleeve secured in the hosel:
 the shaft sleeve center of gravity is located at a sleeve CG vertical distance of less than approximately 35.6 mm relative to the sole bottom end; and 
 a difference between the sleeve CG vertical distance and the assembled club head CG vertical distance is less than approximately 19 mm. 
 
   
     
     
         2 . The golf club head of  claim 1 , wherein:
 the securing fastener is configured to couple to a sleeve bottom end of the shaft sleeve.   
     
     
         3 . The golf club head of  claim 1 , wherein:
 the securing fastener comprises a bolt with a bolt head and a bolt body.   
     
     
         4 . The golf club head of  claim 1 , wherein:
 when the golf club head is at the address position, with the shaft sleeve secured in the hosel:
 the sleeve CG vertical distance is less than approximately 34.3 mm relative to the sole bottom end. 
   
     
     
         5 . The golf club head of  claim 1 , wherein:
 the club head body further comprises a crown, the crown comprising a crown top end; and   when the golf club head is at the address position, with the shaft sleeve secured in the hosel, at least one of:
 the crown top end is at a crown height vertical distance of at least approximately 59.7 mm relative to the sole bottom end; or 
 the assembled club head center of gravity is located at an assembled club head CG vertical distance of less than approximately 33 mm relative to the sole bottom end. 
   
     
     
         6 . The golf club head of  claim 1 , wherein:
 the club head body comprises a body mass;   the shaft sleeve comprises a sleeve mass;   the securing fastener comprises a securing fastener mass;   an assembled club head mass comprises the body mass, the sleeve mass, and the securing fastener mass; and   the sleeve mass is less than or equal to approximately 2.8% of the assembled club head mass.   
     
     
         7 . The golf club head of  claim 1 , wherein:
 the club head body comprises a body mass;   the shaft sleeve comprises a sleeve mass;   the securing fastener comprises a securing fastener mass;   an assembled club head mass comprises the body mass, the sleeve mass, and the securing fastener mass; and   the sleeve mass and the securing fastener mass together are less than or equal to approximately 3.5% of the assembled club head mass.   
     
     
         8 . The golf club head of  claim 1 , wherein:
 the hosel further comprises a hosel top end and a hosel outer wall;   the hosel outer wall comprises a hosel outer perimeter; and   the hosel outer perimeter comprises a hosel diameter of less than approximately 20 mm at the hosel top end.   
     
     
         9 . The golf club head of  claim 1 , wherein:
 the hosel further comprises a hosel top end and a hosel outer wall;   the hosel outer wall comprises a hosel outer perimeter; and   the hosel outer perimeter comprises a hosel diameter of less than approximately 14 mm at the hosel top end.   
     
     
         10 . The golf club head of  claim 1 , wherein:
 the hosel further comprises a hosel top end comprising a hosel top wall thickness; and   the hosel top wall thickness is less than or equal to approximately 0.9 mm at one or more sections of the hosel top end.   
     
     
         11 . The golf club head of  claim 1 , wherein:
 the hosel comprises a hosel top end comprising a hosel top wall thickness; and   the hosel top wall thickness is less than or equal to approximately 0.6 mm at one or more sections of the hosel top end.   
     
     
         12 . The golf club head of  claim 1 , wherein:
 the shaft sleeve comprises a shaft sleeve axis;   the sleeve bore comprises a sleeve bore axis;   the shaft sleeve axis forms an angle with the sleeve bore axis when the shaft sleeve is secured in the hosel; and   the angle is greater than or equal to approximately 0.2 degrees and less than or equal to approximately 4 degrees.   
     
     
         13 . A set of golf club heads comprising:
 a first golf club head:
 a first club head body comprising:
 a first fairway wood-type club head body; 
 a first sole comprising a first sole bottom end; and 
 a first hosel; 
 
 a first shaft sleeve insertable into the first hosel and configured to repositionably couple a first golf club shaft with the first hosel; and 
 a first securing fastener configured to secure the first shaft sleeve in the first hosel; 
 wherein:
 the first hosel comprises:
 a first hosel top coupler; and 
 a first hosel bore configured to receive the first shaft sleeve; 
 
 the first shaft sleeve comprises:
 a first sleeve top coupler configured to engage the first hosel top coupler and restrict a rotation of the first shaft sleeve relative to the first club head body when the first shaft sleeve is inserted in the first hosel bore and secured by the first securing fastener; 
 a first sleeve bore configured to receive an end of the first golf club shaft; and 
 a first shaft sleeve center of gravity; 
 
 the first golf club head further comprises a first assembled club head center of gravity when the first club head body is assembled with the first shaft sleeve and the first securing fastener; 
 the first assembled club head center of gravity is located at a first assembled club head CG vertical distance relative to the first sole bottom end; 
 the first club head body comprises a first body mass; 
 the first shaft sleeve comprises a first sleeve mass; 
 the first securing fastener comprises a first securing fastener mass; 
 a first assembled club head mass comprises the first body mass, the first sleeve mass, and the securing fastener mass; 
 the first sleeve mass is less than or equal to approximately 2.8% of the first assembled club head mass; 
 and 
 when the first golf club head is at a first address position, with the first shaft sleeve secured in the first hosel:
 the first shaft sleeve center of gravity is located at a first sleeve CG vertical distance of less than approximately 35.6 mm relative to the first sole bottom end; 
 
 
   and   a second golf club head:
 a second club head body comprising:
 a second fairway wood-type club head body; 
 a second sole comprising a second sole bottom end; and 
 a second hosel; 
 
 a second shaft sleeve insertable into the second hosel and configured to repositionably couple a second golf club shaft with the second hosel; and 
 a second securing fastener configured to secure the second shaft sleeve in the second hosel; 
 wherein:
 the second hosel comprises:
 a second hosel top coupler; and 
 a second hosel bore configured to receive the second shaft sleeve; 
 
 the second shaft sleeve comprises:
 a second sleeve top coupler configured to engage the second hosel top coupler and restrict a rotation of the second shaft sleeve relative to the second club head body when the second shaft sleeve is inserted in the second hosel bore and secured by the second securing fastener; 
 a second sleeve bore configured to receive an end of the second golf club shaft; and 
 a second shaft sleeve center of gravity; 
 
 the second golf club head further comprises a second assembled club head center of gravity when the second club head body is assembled with the second shaft sleeve and the second securing fastener; 
 the second assembled club head center of gravity is located at a second assembled club head CG vertical distance relative to the second sole bottom end; 
 the second club head body comprises a second body mass; 
 the second shaft sleeve comprises a second sleeve mass; 
 the second securing fastener comprises a second securing fastener mass; 
 a second assembled club head mass comprises the second body mass, the second sleeve mass, and the securing fastener mass; 
 the second sleeve mass is less than or equal to approximately 2.54% of the second assembled club head mass; 
 and 
 when the second golf club head is at a second address position, with the second shaft sleeve secured in the second hosel:
 the second shaft sleeve center of gravity is located at a second sleeve CG vertical distance of less than approximately 35.6 mm relative to the second sole bottom end. 
 
 
   
     
     
         14 . The set of golf club heads of  claim 13 , wherein:
 the first sleeve mass is less than or equal to approximately 2.48% of the first assembled club head mass.   
     
     
         15 . The set of golf club heads of  claim 13 , wherein:
 the first sleeve mass is less than or equal to approximately 2.44% of the first assembled club head mass.   
     
     
         16 . The set of golf club heads of  claim 13 , wherein:
 when the first golf club head is at the first address position, with the first shaft sleeve secured in the first hosel:
 a first difference between the first sleeve CG vertical distance and the first assembled club head CG vertical distance is less than approximately 19 mm; 
   and   when the second golf club head is at the second address position, with the second shaft sleeve secured in the second hosel:
 a second difference between the second sleeve CG vertical distance and the second assembled club head CG vertical distance is less than approximately 19 MM. 
   
     
     
         17 . The set of golf club heads of  claim 13 , wherein:
 the first sleeve mass and the first securing fastener mass together are less than or equal to approximately 3.5% of the first assembled club head mass; and   the second sleeve mass and the second securing fastener mass together are less than or equal to approximately 3.5% of the second assembled club head mass.   
     
     
         18 . A method of manufacturing a golf club head, the method comprising:
 providing a club head body comprising:
 a fairway wood-type club head body; 
 a sole comprising a sole bottom end; and 
 a hosel; 
   providing a shaft sleeve insertable into the hosel and configured to repositionably couple a golf club shaft with the hosel; and   providing a securing fastener configured to secure the shaft sleeve in the hosel;   wherein:
 the hosel comprises:
 a hosel top coupler; and 
 a hosel bore configured to receive the shaft sleeve; 
 
 the shaft sleeve comprises:
 a sleeve top coupler configured to engage the hosel top coupler and restrict a rotation of the shaft sleeve relative to the club head body when the shaft sleeve is inserted in the hosel bore and secured by the securing fastener; 
 a sleeve bore configured to receive an end of the golf club shaft; and 
 a shaft sleeve center of gravity; 
 
 the golf club head further comprises an assembled club head center of gravity when the club head body is assembled with the shaft sleeve and the securing fastener; 
 the assembled club head center of gravity is located at an assembled club head CG vertical distance relative to the sole bottom end; 
 and 
 when the golf club head is at an address position, with the shaft sleeve secured in the hosel:
 the shaft sleeve center of gravity is located at a sleeve CG vertical distance of less than approximately 35.6 mm relative to the sole bottom end; and 
 a difference between the sleeve CG vertical distance and the assembled club head CG vertical distance is less than approximately 19 mm. 
 
   
     
     
         19 . The method of  claim 18  further comprising:
 inserting the end of the golf club shaft in the sleeve bore; 
 inserting the shaft sleeve in the hosel bore; and 
 securing the shaft sleeve in the hosel with the securing fastener. 
 
     
     
         20 . The method of  claim 18 , wherein:
 the club head body comprises a body mass;   the shaft sleeve comprises a sleeve mass;   the securing fastener comprises a securing fastener mass;   an assembled club head mass comprises the body mass, the sleeve mass, and the securing fastener mass;   and   at least one of:
 when the golf club head is at the address position, with the shaft sleeve secured in the hosel:
 the sleeve CG vertical distance is less than approximately 34.3 mm relative to the sole bottom end; 
 
 or 
 the sleeve mass is less than or equal to approximately 2.8% of the assembled club head mass.
