Abstract

The invention provides plants comprising transgenic event MON 88302 that exhibit tolerance to glyphosate herbicide. The invention also provides seeds, plant parts, cells, commodity products, and methods related to the event. The invention also provides DNA molecules that are unique to the event and were created by the insertion of transgenic DNA into the genome of a Brassica napus plant.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 - 35 . (canceled)

36 . A method of applying glyphosate to improve weed control in a field containing herbicide tolerant Brassica crop species, the method comprising:
applying a glyphosate treatment comprising an effective amount of glyphosate over a population of glyphosate tolerant Brassica plants, wherein a substantial portion of the Brassica plants are at a growing stage beyond the 6-leaf stage and wherein said glyphosate treatment does not cause significant crop yield reduction.

37 . The method of claim 36 , wherein the glyphosate tolerant Brassica plants express a transgene capable of providing such tolerance.

38 . The method of claim 37 , wherein the transgene comprises a nucleic acid molecule encoding a CP4-EPSPS.

39 . The method of claim 36 , wherein the glyphosate treatment comprises an amount of glyphosate as the active ingredient in a single application of at least 675 g acid equivalent/hectare.

40 . The method of claim 36 , wherein the glyphosate treatment comprises an amount of glyphosate as the active ingredient in one or more cumulative applications of between about 900 and about 7200 g acid equivalent/hectare.

41 . The method of claim 36 , wherein the glyphosate treatment is applied at a crop growing stage of between the 6-leaf stage and the first flower stage.

42 . The method of claim 36 , wherein the average crop yield is reduced by no more than 8% compared to a control treatment.
