Abstract

A display package includes a first package portion configured to contain an article therein, a second package portion, and a coupling between the first package portion and the second package portion. The first package portion and the second package portion are movable via the coupling, between a retail configuration and a gift presentation configuration. Information describing the article is visible on an exterior of the display package when the first package portion and the second package portion are in the retail configuration. The information describing the article is obscured from the exterior of the display package when the first package portion and the second package portion are in the gift presentation configuration. The display package also includes a securement structure configured to releasably retain the first and second package portions in the retail configuration. Other embodiments, and methods for presenting display packages, are also disclosed.

Claims

What is claimed is:

         1 . A display package comprising:
a first package portion configured to contain an article therein; a second package portion; a coupling between the first package portion and the second package portion; the first package portion and the second package portion being movable via the coupling, between a retail configuration and a gift presentation configuration; wherein information describing the article is visible on an exterior of the display package when the first package portion and the second package portion are in the retail configuration; and wherein the information describing the article is obscured from the exterior of the display package when the first package portion and the second package portion are in the gift presentation configuration; and a securement structure configured to releasably retain the first and second package portions in the retail configuration.

2 . The display package of claim 1 , wherein the second package portion is configured to contain a second article therein.

3 . The display package of claim 2 , wherein the article and the second article are separate consumer products.

4 . The display package of claim 1 , wherein one or more of the first package portion, the second package portion and the securement structure comprise a polyhedron configuration.

5 . The display package of claim 1 , wherein the first package portion, the second package portion, and the securement structure comprise triangular prism configurations.

6 . The display package of claim 1 , wherein first package portion comprises an aperture configured to show the article therethrough.

7 . The display package of claim 6 , further comprising a window of transparent material over the aperture.

8 . The display package of claim 6 , wherein when the first package portion and the second package portion are in the gift presentation configuration, the aperture of the first package portion is covered by the second package portion.

9 . The display package of claim 1 , wherein each of the first package portion and the second package portion is comprised of plastic, paper products, metal, or combinations thereof.

10 . The display package of claim 1 , wherein the securement structure comprises therein attachments configured to secure the first package portion to the second package portion in the gift presentation configuration.

11 . The display package of claim 10 , wherein the attachments comprise one or more of a ribbon, a bow, adhesive, and a gift label.

12 . The display package of claim 11 , wherein the information describing the article is provided on one or more of a first face of the first package portion and a first face of the second package portion, and wherein when in the gift presentation configuration, the first face of the second package portion is folded across the coupling over the first face of the first package portion.

13 . The display package of claim 1 , wherein the coupling is defined by a cover material extending across the first package portion and the second package portion, wherein the cover material may be folded to convert the retail configuration to the gift presentation configuration.

14 . The display package of claim 13 , further comprising an aperture in the first package portion, and a window of transparent material over the aperture in the first package portion, wherein the window of transparent material is positioned between the first package portion and the cover material, so that the article is visible through an aperture in the cover material, the window of transparent material, and the aperture in the first package portion.

15 . The display package of claim 1 , wherein exterior faces of the first package portion and the second package portion that remain visible in the gift presentation configuration are covered in a decorative pattern.

16 . The display package of claim 1 , wherein the first package portion and the second package portion are formed from a common piece of material folded and secured to form a subset of the display package that may be further folded to convert the display package from the retail configuration to the gift presentation configuration.

17 . The display package of claim 1 , wherein the coupling comprises a hinge between the first and second package portions.

18 . The display package of claim 17 , wherein the hinge comprises a living hinge formed by a common edge between the first and second package portions.

19 . The display package of claim 1 , further comprising one or more of a film, sleeve, or shell configured to retain the securement structure, the first package portion, and the second package portion in the retail configuration; wherein moving the first package portion and the second package portion into the gift presentation configuration via the coupling requires removal of the one or more of the film, sleeve, or shell.

20 . The display package of claim 19 , wherein the one or more of the film, sleeve, or shell is at least partially transparent.

21 . A method for presenting a display package, the display package comprising a first package portion configured to contain an article therein, and a second package portion coupled to the first package portion by a coupling, the method comprising:
 (a) releasing a securement structure configured to releasably retain the first package portion and the second package portion in a retail configuration where information describing the article is visible on an exterior of the display package; and (b) moving the first package portion and the second package portion via the coupling from the retail configuration to a gift presentation configuration where information describing the article is obscured from the exterior of the display package.

22 . The method of claim 21 , further comprising removing from the securement structure attachments configured to secure the first package portion to the second package portion in the gift presentation configuration, and applying the attachments to the first package portion and the second package portion as in the gift presentation configuration.

23 . The method of claim 21 , wherein the attachments comprise one or more of a ribbon, a bow, adhesive, and a gift label.
