Abstract
A fully compostable container is provided having an enclosed body with an opening through an interior surface and an exterior surface. The enclosed body having a plant fiber structural layer configured to biodegrade in ambient conditions into nontoxic residue and a fluid barrier layer formed on a first side of the structural layer to form the interior surface of the enclosed body, the fluid barrier layer configured to biodegrade in ambient conditions into nontoxic residue. The container is gradually biodegradable when exposed to a set of factors in a natural environment and has a shelf life of six months when stored under standard commercial conditions.

a backyard compostable plant-based structural layer that is configured to degrade completely breakdown into nontoxic residue in ambient environmental temperatures in the range of 20 and 30 degrees Celsius without application of additional heat; and a backyard compostable first fluid barrier layer formed on a first side of the structure layer, the fluid barrier layer configured to degrade completely breakdown into nontoxic residue in ambient environmental temperatures in the range of 20 and 30 degrees Celsius without application of additional heat.

The device of claim 1 , further comprising a second fluid barrier layer formed on a second side of the structure layer, the fluid barrier layer configured to degrade completely breakdown into nontoxic residue in ambient environmental temperatures in the range of 20 and 30 degrees Celsius without application of additional heat.
3 . The device of claim 1 wherein the structural layer is sugar cane fiber.
4 . The device of claim 1 wherein the structural layer is sugar cane pulp.
5 . The device of claim 1 wherein the structural layer is bamboo pulp.
6 . The device of claim 1 wherein the structural layer is molded paper pulp.
7 . The device of claim 1 wherein the fluid barrier layer is cellulose acetate.
8 . The device of claim 1 wherein the fluid barrier layer is cellulose acetate with a starch laminate.
9 . An ambient compostable device, comprising:
an ambient compostable spout configured to completely degrade into nontoxic residue in ambient environmental temperatures in the range of 20 and 30 degrees Celsius without the application of additional heat, the spout having:
a first end being configured to be coupled to a container; and
a second end configured to allow fluid to flow out of the container; and
an ambient compostable cap configured to completely degrade into nontoxic residue in ambient environmental temperatures in the range of 20 and 30 degrees Celsius without the application of additional heat, the cap having:
a closed end; and
an open end configured to interact with the second end of the spout to form a seal.
10 . The device of claim 9 wherein the spout and the cap have a shelf life of approximately six months.
11 . A cap for an ambient compostable container, comprising:
the cap being formed from an ambient compostable material configured to degrade into nontoxic residue in ambient environmental temperatures in the range of 20 and 30 degrees Celsius, the cap having:
a first end that is open and is configured to be coupled to sidewalls of the container;
a second end that is closed that prevents fluid from passing through the first end and through the cap when the cap is coupled to the container; and
a cap sidewall that extends from the open end to the closed end, each of the first end, the second end and the cap sidewall being formed from an ambient compostable material that is configured to degrade into nontoxic residue in ambient environmental temperatures in the range of 20 and 30 degrees Celsius.
