Abstract

An apparatus for determination of the portion of pure metal in dross from a dross source, whereby the metal portion in the dross is determined by measuring the dross density and calculating the metal portion in accordance with the formula m% =k·ρ+a, wherein m% is percentage pure metal, p is dross density and k and a are empirical constants. The apparatus includes a closed container configured to supply and remove gas, and for reading the temperature and amount of gas supplied to the container.

What is claimed is:

         4 . An apparatus for determination of the portion of pure metal in dross from a dross source, whereby the metal portion in the dross is determined by measuring the dross density and calculating the metal portion in accordance with the formula m%=k ·ρ+a, wherein mo is percentage pure metal, ρ is dross density and k and a are empirical constants, whereby the apparatus comprises a closed container having means for supply and removal of gas, and means for reading of temperature and amount of gas supplied to the container, wherein the container is divided into two separate containers comprising:
 a dross container provided with a temperature gauge, pressure gauge and an outlet pipe having a valve for removal of gas from the dross container, and 
 a gas container provided with temperature gauge, pressure gauge and a pipe provided with a valve for supply of gas from a gas source to the gas container, whereby 
 the dross container and the gas container are in a flow connection via a pipe. 
 
     
     
         5 . The apparatus of  claim 4 , wherein the dross container and the gas container are arranged within a chamber in a container. 
     
     
         6 . The apparatus of  claim 5 , wherein the container is formed of or is provided with a heat insulating material. 
     
     
         7 . The apparatus of  claim 4 , wherein the gas container is provided with a device for heating of the gas. 
     
     
         8 . The apparatus of  claim 7 , wherein the heating device is arranged in the pipe for supplying gas to the gas container. 
     
     
         9 . The apparatus of  claim 4 , wherein the container is provided with a heating device for heating of the dross container, gas container and surrounding gas.
