Abstract

The disclosed embodiments include, for example, systems and methods for providing recommendations of one or more alternative products to a user based on investment portfolio data. In one aspect, the disclosed embodiments may include a system that is configured to obtain information associated with one or more products of interest to the user. In certain aspects, the obtained information may identify a product previously purchased by the user, one or more products that form a shopping list of the user, and/or a product identified by the user as a potential purchase. The system may be configured to identify one or more alternative products that are similar to the products of interest and that are related to one or more securities associated with an investment portfolio of the user.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A computer-implemented method, comprising:
 obtaining, by one or more processors, (i) first information identifying a plurality of products having corresponding product parameters and (ii) second information identifying securities associated with an investment portfolio of a user;   identifying, by the one or more processors, an alternative product associated with at least one of the product parameters and at least one of the securities; and   performing, by the one or more processors, a process that causes transmission of information identifying the alternative product for presentation on a device of the user prior to a purchase of the products by the user.   
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein:
 the first information comprises a list identifying the plurality of the products; and   the alternative product is associated with at least one of the products included in the list.   
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the obtaining comprises obtaining the first information prior to the purchase of the products by the user. 
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the product parameters comprises at least one of a product type, a product class, or a product sector. 
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein:
 identifying the alternative product comprises identifying first candidate products associated with at least one issuer of the securities; and   the at least one issuer comprises at least one of a manufacturer of a corresponding one of the first candidate products, a retailer of a corresponding one of the first candidate products, or a distributor of a corresponding one of the first candidate products.   
     
     
         6 . The method of  claim 5 , wherein identifying the alternative product further comprises:
 determining whether at least a portion of the first candidate products are associated with the corresponding ones of the product parameters; and   when the at least a portion of first candidate products are determined to be associated with the corresponding ones of the product parameters, selecting the alternative product from the portion of the first candidate products.   
     
     
         7 . The method of  claim 5 , wherein identifying the alternative product further comprises:
 identifying an entity related to the at least one issuer; and   obtaining second candidate products associated with the related entity.   
     
     
         8 . The method of  claim 7 , wherein identifying the alternative product further comprises:
 determining whether at least one of the first and second candidate products are associated with the corresponding ones of the product parameters; and   when the at least one of the first and second candidate products are determined to be associated with the corresponding ones of the product parameters, selecting the alternative product from the at least one of the first and second candidate products.   
     
     
         9 . The method of  claim 1 , further comprising generating an electronic command to present information identifying the alternative product on a wearable client device. 
     
     
         10 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the information identifying the alternative product comprises at least one of a visual representation of the alternative product or audio content associated with the alternative product. 
     
     
         11 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the information identifying the alternative product comprises information identifying at least one of an electronic retailer or a physical retailer. 
     
     
         12 . The method of  claim 11 , wherein the information identifying the alternate product further comprises information identifying at least one of a location of the physical retailer or a location of the alternative product within the physical retailer. 
     
     
         13 . The method of  claim 1 , further comprising identifying, by the one or more processors, a plurality of alternative products associated with at least one of the product parameters and with at least one of the securities. 
     
     
         14 . A system, comprising:
 a storage device; and   at least one processor coupled to the storage device, the storage device storing software instructions for controlling the at least one processor when executed by the at least one processor, and the at least one processor being operative with the software instructions and configured to:
 obtain (i) first information identifying a plurality of products having corresponding product parameters and (ii) second information identifying securities associated with an investment portfolio of a user; 
 identify an alternative product associated with at least one of the product parameters and at least one of the securities; and 
 perform a process that causes transmission of information identifying the alternative product to a device of the user for presentation to the user prior to a purchase of the products by the user. 
   
     
     
         15 . The system of  claim 14 , wherein:
 the first information comprises a list identifying the plurality of the products; and   the alternative product is associated with at least one of the products included in the list.   
     
     
         16 . The system of  claim 14 , wherein the at least one processor is further configured to obtain the first information prior to the purchase of the products by the user. 
     
     
         17 . The system of  claim 14 , wherein the product parameters comprises at least one of a product type, a product class, or a product sector. 
     
     
         18 . The system of  claim 14 , wherein:
 the at least one processor is further configured to identify first candidate products associated with at least one issuer of the securities; and   the at least one issuer comprises at least one of a manufacturer of a corresponding one of the first candidate products, a retailer of a corresponding one of the first candidate products, or a distributor of a corresponding one of the first candidate products.   
     
     
         19 . The system of  claim 18 , wherein the at least one processor is further configured to:
 determine whether at least a portion of the first candidate products are associated with the corresponding ones of the product parameters; and   when the at least a portion of the first candidate products are determined to be associated with the corresponding ones of the product parameters, select the alternative product from the at least a portion of the first candidate products.   
     
     
         20 . The system of  claim 18 , wherein the at least one processor is further configured to:
 identify an entity related to the at least one issuer; and   obtain second candidate products associated with the related entity.   
     
     
         21 . The system of  claim 20 , wherein the at least one processor is further configured to:
 determine whether at least one of the first and second candidate products are associated with the corresponding ones of the product parameters; and   when the at least one of the first and second candidate products are determined to be associated with corresponding ones of the product parameters, select the alternative product from the at least one of the first and second candidate products.   
     
     
         22 . The system of  claim 14 , wherein the at least one processor is further configured to generate an electronic command to present information identifying the alternative product on a wearable client device. 
     
     
         23 . The system of  claim 14 , wherein the information identifying the alternative product comprises at least one of a visual representation of the alternative product or audio content associated with the alternative product. 
     
     
         24 . The system of  claim 14 , wherein the information identifying the alternative product comprises information identifying at least one of an electronic retailer or a physical retailer. 
     
     
         25 . The system of  claim 24 , wherein the information identifying the alternate product further comprises information identifying at least one of a location of the physical retailer or a location of the alternative product within the physical retailer. 
     
     
         26 . The system of  claim 14 , wherein the at least one processor is further configured to identify a plurality of alternative products associated with at least one of the product parameters and with at least one of the securities. 
     
     
         27 . A tangible, non-transitory computer-readable medium storing instructions that, when executed by at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to perform a method, comprising:
 obtaining (i) first information identifying a plurality of products having corresponding product parameters and (ii) second information identifying securities associated with an investment portfolio of a user;   identifying an alternative product associated with at least one of the product parameters and at least one of the securities; and   performing a process that causes transmission of information identifying the alternative product to a device of the user for presentation of the alternative product information to the user prior to a purchase of the products by the user.
