Abstract

A composition for reconstruction, replacement or repair of damaged or diseased biological tissue comprising an extracellular matrix (ECM) composition that includes mesothelial tissue.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A composition for treating damaged biological tissue, comprising:
 an extracellular matrix (ECM) composition comprising acellular mesothelial tissue, wherein, when said ECM composition is administered to said damaged biological tissue, said ECM composition induces bioremodeling and regeneration of new biological tissue.   
     
     
         2 . The composition of  claim 1 , wherein said ECM composition further comprises an exogenously added growth factor selected from the group consisting of transforming growth factor beta (TGF-beta), fibroblast growth factor-2 (FGF-2) and vascular epithelial growth factor (VEGF). 
     
     
         3 . The composition of  claim 1 , wherein said ECM composition further comprises a fluidizing component selected from the group consisting of water and saline.
