Apparatus for holding, securing and styling hair

Abstract

Hair styling accessories include a flexible body and are configured to hold and style hair and to carry decorative accessories. A hair extension securing apparatus is adjustable between an open and a closed position, to allow a wearer to selectively fasten a hair extension to the wearer's hair.

1 . A hair styling accessory comprising:
 a flexible body having first and second opposite ends and a gap in a central portion between the first and second ends that separates the body into first and second side members, the gap being configured to receive hair therethrough; and   first and second clasp members at the first and second ends, respectively, of the flexible body, configured to clasp together upon closing the flexible body into a rounded loop shape so as to hold hair in a bun configuration.   wherein the flexible body is covered with a synthetic hair-like material that is similar to the hair of a wearer of the hair styling accessory.   
     
     
         2 . The hair styling accessory of  claim 1 , wherein the synthetic hair-like material covering the flexible body is tied, sewn or glued to the flexible body. 
     
     
         3 . The hair styling accessory of  claim 1 , wherein the synthetic hair-like material covering the flexible body is woven around the flexible body. 
     
     
         4 . The hair styling accessory of  claim 1 , further comprising a hair extension attached to the flexible body. 
     
     
         5 . The hair styling accessory of  claim 4 , further comprising a mounting element attached to the flexible body, wherein the hair extension is secured to the mounting element. 
     
     
         6 . The hair styling accessory of  claim 5 , wherein the mounting element is removably attachable between the first and second clasp members. 
     
     
         7 . A hair styling accessory comprising:
 a flexible body capable of forming a loop around hair of a wearer of the hair styling accessory; and   a decorative accessory removably attached to the body.   
     
     
         8 . The hair styling accessory of  claim 7 , wherein the body comprises a first clasp at a first end and a second clasp at a second end thereof, the first clasp being connectable to the second clasp to form the loop around the hair of the wearer. 
     
     
         9 . The hair styling accessory of  claim 8 , wherein the first clasp comprises a socket and the second clasp comprises a keyhole for receiving the socket, and the decorative accessory is removably attached to the socket. 
     
     
         10 . The hair styling accessory of  claim 8 , further comprising a first mating element carrying the decorative accessory, the first mating element being configured with a third clasp that is connectable to the first clasp, and with a fourth clasp that is connectable to the second clasp. 
     
     
         11 . The hair styling accessory of  claim 10 , further comprising at least one additional mating element connectable to the first mating element between the first clasp and the second clasp. 
     
     
         12 . The hair styling accessory of  claim 10 , wherein the decorative accessory is removably attached to the first mating element. 
     
     
         13 . The hair styling accessory of  claim 7 , wherein at least one additional decorative accessory is attachable to the decorative accessory removably attached to the body. 
     
     
         14 . A headband hair styling accessory comprising:
 a flexible body having first and second opposite bottom ends, the body forming a curve that is configured to fit over a head of a wearer;   a tying portion connected to the first and second bottom ends of the body; and   at least one decorative accessory removably attached to the body.   
     
     
         15 . The headband hair styling accessory of  claim 14 , wherein the flexible body is composed of foam with fabric coating on at least one side thereof. 
     
     
         16 . The headband hair accessory of  claim 14 , wherein the body is composed of a thermoplastic elastomer. 
     
     
         17 . The headband hair accessory of  claim 16 , wherein the body comprises a plurality of bumps on at least one surface thereof. 
     
     
         18 . The headband hair accessory of  claim 14 , wherein the body has a width that tapers from a first width at a center portion to a second width that is less than half of the first width at the first and second bottom ends. 
     
     
         19 . A hair extension securing apparatus comprising:
 a first member having at least one aperture therein;   a second member having a slot for receiving hair of a wearer and having at least one aperture therein, the second member being attached to the first member by an elastic band extending through the apertures in the first and second members; and   a hair extension attached to the first member;   wherein the first member and the second member are adjustable between an open position and a closed position, wherein the first member and the second member face and abut one another and the elastic band is wrapped around the first and second members in order to achieve the closed position.   
     
     
         20 . The hair extension securing apparatus of  claim 19 , wherein the first and second members are attached to one another by a hinge.
