Abstract
A system for installing and securing construction materials. The system provides for constructing structures which comprise a covering. The system uses an installing and securing clip attached to a support structure. The installing and securing clip can grasp and hold in place a construction material used for a covering. The system allows for attaching construction materials while keeping the attachment mechanism largely out of sight for desired aesthetics. The system also allows for easy removal of construction material for repair or replacement.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . An installing and securing system for use with a construction material, wherein the installing and securing system allows for attachment of the construction material to a support structure, wherein the installing and securing system comprises:
a. a construction material; b. a support structure; c. at least one installing and securing clip comprising:
(i) a clip seating surface, wherein the clip seating surface is adapted to seat on the support structure;
(ii) a clip attachment surface for grasping the construction material, wherein the clip attachment surface further comprises:
1. a grasping protrusion; or
2. a grasping adhesive; and
d. a support structure attachment for attaching the installing and securing clip to the support structure.
2 . The installing and securing system of claim 1 , wherein the construction material comprises at least one of:
a. a material used for a deck; b. a material used for flooring; c. a material used for wall covering; d. a material used for ceiling covering; e. a material used for roof covering; and f. a material used for fencing.
3 . The installing and securing system of claim 2 , wherein the construction material comprises at least one of:
a. a decking board; b. a floor board; c. a wall panel; d. a ceiling tile; e. a shingle, a roof tile, or other roof covering; and f. a fence component.
4 . The installing and securing system of claim 1 , wherein the construction material comprises at least one of:
a. a wood; b. a stone; c. a plastic; d. a composite; e. a polymer; f. a synthetic construction material; and g. a natural construction material.
5 . The installing and securing system of claim 1 , wherein the support structure comprises a complementary surface, wherein the complementary surface is shaped to receive the clip seating surface in a substantially snug manner.
6 . The installing and securing system of claim 1 , wherein the support structure is substantially rigid and capable of fixedly supporting a combined weight, wherein the combined weight is a weight of any installing and securing clips used and a weight of any construction materials used.
7 . The installing and securing system of claim 1 , wherein the installing and securing clip further comprises a clip positioner, wherein the clip positioner selectively orients the installing and securing clip with respect to the support structure.
8 . The installing and securing system of claim 1 , wherein the installing and securing clip further comprises a clip aligner, wherein the clip aligner is adapted to cooperatively interact with another clip aligner.
9 . The installing and securing system of claim 8 , wherein the clip aligner performs at least one of the following functions:
a. properly aligns the installing and securing clip with a separate installing and securing clip; b. properly spaces the installing and securing clip with a separate installing and securing clip; c. properly aligns the construction material with a separate construction material; and d. properly spaces the construction material with a separate construction material.
10 . The installing and securing system of claim 7 , wherein the clip positioner and the clip aligner act in concert to perform at least one of the following functions:
a. properly align the installing and securing clip at a desired orientation to the support structure; and b. properly align the construction material at a desired orientation to the support structure.
11 . The installing and securing system of claim 1 , wherein the grasping protrusion comprises a structure extending from the clip attachment surface and is adapted to grasp the construction material and substantially constrain a movement of the construction material relative to the clip attachment surface.
12 . The installing and securing system of claim 1 , wherein the grasping adhesive is an adhesive material disposed upon the clip attachment surface and in contact with the construction material, and further wherein the grasping adhesive substantially constrains the movement of the construction material relative to the clip attachment surface.
13 . The installing and securing system of claim 1 , wherein the support structure attachment comprises at least one of:
a. a mechanical fastener, wherein the mechanical fastener is selected from the group consisting of:
(i) a nail;
(ii) a screw;
(iii) a bolt;
(iv) a dowel pin;
(v) a rivet; and
(vi) a staple;
b. an adhesive; c. a hook and loop fastener; and d. a magnet.
14 . The installing and securing system of claim 1 , wherein the installing and securing clip further comprises a mechanical stop, wherein the mechanical stop substantially constrains the construction material from displacement in a direction substantially parallel to the installing and securing clip attachment surface.
15 . A kit for constructing a structure, the kit comprising:
a. a plurality of construction materials; and b. a plurality of installing and securing clips, wherein each installing and securing clip comprises:
(i) a clip seating surface, wherein the clip seating surface is adapted to seat firmly on a support structure;
(ii) a clip attachment surface for grasping the construction material, wherein the clip attachment surface further comprises:
1. a grasping protrusion; or
2. a grasping adhesive;
(iii) a clip positioner, wherein the clip positioner selectively orients the installing and securing clip with respect to the support structure; and
(iv) a clip aligner, wherein the clip aligner is adapted to cooperatively interact with another clip aligner; and
wherein the construction materials are formed to specific dimensions for being grasped by the plurality of installing and securing clips to form the structure.
16 . The kit of claim 15 , further comprising a plurality of support structure attachments for attaching the installing and securing clips to the support structure.
17 . The kit of claim 15 , further comprising a plurality of support structure components for constructing a support structure.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
