Health records management systems and methods

Abstract

A health records management system provides centralized access to and sharing of certain medical information, for example immunization information. Consumers may utilize the system to manage immunization information for a household, and to update state immunization registry information. The health records management system may provide immunization reminders to a consumer.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . An electronic health records system, comprising:
 a processor;   a tangible, non-transitory memory configured to communicate with the processor, the memory having instructions stored thereon that, in response to execution by the processor, cause the system to perform operations comprising:   authorizing a consumer to access the electronic health records system;   obtaining, responsive to a request from the consumer, electronic immunization records for the consumer from an immunization registry of a first state;   obtaining, responsive to a request from the consumer, electronic immunization records for the consumer from an immunization registry of a second state; and   providing to the consumer, within the electronic health records system, combined electronic immunization records comprising the electronic immunization records from the first state and the electronic immunization records from the second state.   
     
     
         2 . The system of  claim 1 , the operations further comprising exporting, from the electronic health records system and responsive to a request from the consumer, at least a portion of the combined electronic immunization records to an external records recipient. 
     
     
         3 . The system of  claim 2 , wherein the at least a portion of the combined electronic immunization records are exported in BlueButton+ format. 
     
     
         4 . The system of  claim 1 , the operations further comprising providing, to the consumer and within the electronic health records system, access to immunization information for a relative of the consumer. 
     
     
         5 . The system of  claim 1 , the operations further comprising providing to the immunization registry of the first state, by the electronic health records system and responsive to a request from the consumer, the electronic immunization records obtained from the immunization registry of the second state. 
     
     
         6 . A method for health records management, comprising:
 receiving, at an electronic health records system, preauthorization information from a consumer;   receiving, at the electronic health records system and from a healthcare provider, registration confirmation information for the consumer;   providing, to the consumer and responsive to the registration confirmation information, access to the electronic health records system;   combining, in the electronic health records system, immunization information for the consumer and immunization information for a member of the consumer's household; and   generating, for the consumer and by the electronic health records system, a reminder regarding a suggested immunization for at least one of the consumer and the member of the consumer's household.   
     
     
         7 . The method of  claim 6 , further comprising generating, for the consumer and by the electronic health records system, an official state immunization form for at least one of the consumer and the member of the consumer's household. 
     
     
         8 . The method of  claim 6 , further comprising exporting, from the electronic health records system and responsive to a request from the consumer, at least a portion of the immunization information for the consumer to an external records recipient. 
     
     
         9 . The method of  claim 8 , wherein the at least a portion of the immunization information for the consumer is exported in BlueButton+ format. 
     
     
         10 . The method of  claim 6 , wherein the immunization information for the consumer is received from a state immunization registry. 
     
     
         11 . A method for health records management, comprising:
 authorizing a consumer to access an electronic health records system;   obtaining, responsive to a request from the consumer, electronic immunization records for the consumer from an immunization registry of a first state;   obtaining, responsive to a request from the consumer, electronic immunization records for the consumer from an immunization registry of a second state; and   providing to the consumer, within the electronic health records system, combined electronic immunization records comprising the electronic immunization records from the first state and the electronic immunization records from the second state.   
     
     
         12 . The method of  claim 11 , wherein the authorizing the consumer takes place during a healthcare provider office visit. 
     
     
         13 . The method of  claim 11 , further comprising exporting, from the electronic health records system and responsive to a request from the consumer, at least a portion of the combined electronic immunization records to an external records recipient. 
     
     
         14 . The method of  claim 13 , wherein the at least a portion of the combined electronic immunization records are exported in BlueButton+ format. 
     
     
         15 . The method of  claim 11 , further comprising providing, to the consumer and within the electronic health records system, access to immunization information for a relative of the consumer. 
     
     
         16 . The method of  claim 11 , further comprising providing to the immunization registry of the first state, by the electronic health records system and responsive to a request from the consumer, the electronic immunization records obtained from the immunization registry of the second state. 
     
     
         17 . The method of  claim 11 , further comprising generating, for the consumer and by the electronic health records system, a reminder regarding a suggested immunization based upon the combined electronic immunization records. 
     
     
         18 . A method for health records management, comprising:
 authorizing a consumer to access an electronic health records system;   obtaining, responsive to a request from the consumer, electronic immunization records for the consumer from a state immunization registry;   providing to the consumer, within the electronic health records system, the electronic immunization records received from the state immunization registry; and   providing, responsive to receiving corrected immunization records from the consumer, the corrected immunization records to the state immunization registry of the state.
