Motorcycle canopy

Abstract

Motorcyclists are at a disadvantage because they are vulnerable to rain and other inclement weather unlike automobile drivers. More so, if/when caught in such inclement weather conditions, motorcyclists have to seek refuge under covered structures. These temporary sheltered options are undesirable choices for riders especially if time is essential. For riders who elect to continue their journeys often are left with the effects of the weather conditions—wet clothing and hair, which are not only uncomfortable, but, can subsequently affect a rider's health. There have been previous devices developed that relates to motorcycle canopies. They include a front and rear frame that attaches to a motorcycle or scooter. Other known devices include a rear frame that attaches to a windscreen on a motorcycle. The present invention, the “Motorcycle Canopy” includes several components assembled together to form one device. It is used to provide shelter and comfort to motorcycle rider(s) under inclement weather conditions. The “Motorcycle Canopy” includes a folding frame attached to the rear of the motorcycle that includes a first pair of telescoping support attached to the frame, a second pair of telescoping support attached to the foot pedal or the front pivot fork, and three crossbar connectors for the front of the motorcycle. This combination of components allows the device to fold and extend while attached to the motorcycle.

1 . The first component claimed (Item # 1 ) are two Retractable Folding Bars that open to form two telescoping supports behind the motorcycle. The Retractable Folding Bars can be extended to facilitate the height of a driver/rider. 
     
     
         2 . The second component claimed (Item # 2 ) are a pair of Front Retractable Telescoping Bars that can be attached either to the side pedals, the crash crossbars or the pivot fork using clamps and thumb screws to secure the bars. These Front Retractable Telescoping Bars can also be extended to match the height of the Retractable Folding Bars (Item # 1 ). 
     
     
         3 . The third component claimed (Item # 3 ) is a Side Clear Transparent Retractable Plastic Panels rolled inside the Retractable Folding Bars (Item # 1 ). This item is pulled from the Retractable Folding Bars (Item # 1 ) and is then attached to the Front Retractable Telescoping Bars (Item # 2 ) by sliding it inside a pre-fabricated T-Groove cut. 
     
     
         4 . The forth component claimed (Item # 4 ) is a set of three Crossbars pulled from the rear Main Bar attached to the rear of the motorcycle. The first Crossbar is to be attached and secured to the Retractable Folding Bars (Item # 1 ) by slotting it in to the top of the bar. The second Crossbar is attached and secured to the Front Retractable Telescoping Bars (Item # 2 ) similar to the first Crossbar. The third Crossbar is attached to the motorcycle handle bar or the windscreen using Velcro Straps. 
     
     
         5 . The fifth component claimed (Item # 5 ) is the Impermeable All Weather Resistant Materials pulled from the Crossbars (Item # 4 ). The first two Materials, the back and top covers are Opaque Materials. The covers are pulled out from the Main Bar (Item # 6 ) to the first Crossbar and from the first Crossbar to the second Crossbar. The final piece is a Clear Transparent Retractable Plastic Material (Item # 3 ) pulled from the second Crossbar to the third Crossbar which allows a rider to navigate without hindrances. 
     
     
         6 . The sixth component claimed (Item # 6 ) is the Main Bar, large tube that contains the Thumb Screws (Item # 7 ) and the Clamps (Item # 8 ) 
     
     
         7 . The seventh component claimed is a Thumb Screw (Item # 7 ) which will secure the Front Retractable Telescoping Bars (Item # 2 ) attached to either the side pedals, the crash crossbar or the pivot fork based on the make and model of the motorcycle. 
     
     
         8 . The eight component claimed is a Clamp (Item # 8 ) which will attach the Front Retractable Telescoping Bars (Item # 2 ) to the side pedals, the crash crossbars or the pivot fork based on the make and model of the motorcycle.
