Abstract

A frangible target suspension apparatus wherein the frangible targets are secured to one or more support cords by passing the support cord through slots in the side edges of a sleeve and friction to keep the frangible targets in place on the support cord. In an alternative embodiment, the frangible target engages a cover with side slots that is placed over the frangible target from the rear retaining the support cord in place within the side slots.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

1 . A frangible target suspension apparatus comprising:
a frangible target having a sidewall; a sleeve having a periphery and an inner wall of said periphery, said periphery having at least a pair of slots therein; and at least one support cord, wherein said at least one support cord is disposed within said pair of slots of said sleeve, and wherein said frangible target coupled to said sleeve hangs suspended from said at least one support cord.

2 . The frangible target suspension apparatus of claim 1 , wherein said frangible target suspension apparatus is disposed generally vertically.

3 . The frangible target suspension apparatus of claim 1 , wherein said frangible target suspension apparatus is disposed generally horizontally.

4 . The frangible target suspension apparatus of claim 1 , wherein said at least one support cord is secured by passing said support cord through said pair of slots of said sleeve, and wherein friction between said sidewall of said frangible target and said inner wall of said sleeve binds said at least one support cord to said frangible target and said sleeve.

5 . The frangible target suspension apparatus of claim 1 , wherein said sleeve further comprises a clip positioned on a front edge of said periphery, said clip configured to releasably latch said sleeve to said frangible target.

6 . The frangible target suspension apparatus of claim 5 , wherein said sleeve further comprises a slot positioned opposite said clip in said periphery, said slot configured to accommodate said clip when stacking two or more said sleeve.

7 . The frangible target suspension apparatus of claim 5 , wherein said clip is configured to releasably latch said sleeve around said sidewall of said frangible target.

8 . The frangible target suspension apparatus of claim 1 , wherein portions of said at least one support cord are secured at a high point on opposite edges of said at least one frangible target.

9 . The frangible target suspension apparatus of claim 1 , wherein said at least one support cord comprises at least two support cords.

10 . The frangible target suspension apparatus of claim 4 , wherein said pair of slots are forward-facing.

11 . The frangible target suspension apparatus of claim 5 , wherein said clip is forward-facing.

12 . A method of suspending frangible targets, said method comprising the steps of:
providing a frangible target, said frangible target having a sidewall, a sleeve having a periphery and an inner wall of said periphery, said periphery having at least a pair of slots therein, and at least one support cord; inserting said at least one support cord into said pair of slots; and securing said frangible target to said sleeve, wherein said frangible target hangs suspended from said at least one support cord.

13 . The method of claim 12 , wherein said step of securing said frangible target to said sleeve further comprises the step of:
securing said at least one support cord therebetween said sidewall of said frangible target and said inner wall of said periphery of said sleeve.

14 . The method of claim 12 , further comprising the step of:
retaining said frangible target in position on said at least one support cord via tension of said at least one support cord.

15 . The method of claim 12 , wherein said step of securing at least one frangible target to said at least one support cord further comprises the step of:
securing said at least one support cord to a high point on opposite edges of said frangible target.
