Abstract

A cylindrical object latch is a holding device that has a face that fits the height of a cylindrical object and two ends that fit over the ends of the cylindrical object and exert tension on both ends of the cylindrical object to hold the cylindrical object in place.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . An apparatus for holding a generally cylindrical object comprising:
a structure, said structure having an inner face that faces a cylindrical object along the height axis and is generally the length of the height of the cylindrical object, an outer face opposite the inner face, a bottom, and a top; an end on the bottom of said structure protruding outward from the inner face; and an end on the top of said structure protruding outward from the inner face.

2 . The apparatus as in claim 1 wherein the inner and outer faces are curved and the inner face is concave and the outer face is convex.

3 . The apparatus as in claim 2 wherein the outer convex face also has a flat spot on the surface.

4 . The apparatus as in claim 1 wherein the ends are formed to exert tension on a cylindrical object.

5 . The apparatus as in claim 4 wherein the ends are formed to exert tension on a cylindrical object so that the inner face comes into contact with the cylindrical object.

6 . The apparatus as in claim 1 wherein one or both ends are shaped to correspond to a top and bottom portion of a cylindrical object to be held.

7 . The apparatus as in claim 1 in which the ends are integrally formed therewith.

8 . The apparatus as in claim 1 further comprising a fastener attached to the structure on the outer face.

9 . The apparatus as in claim 8 in which the fastener is adapted to be a clip to attach to a belt.

10 . The apparatus in claim 1 in which one or both ends include a raised grip perpendicular from the end.

11 . The apparatus in claim 1 , wherein said apparatus is a single integral molded structure.

12 . The apparatus in claim 11 wherein said single integral molded structure is made from a material selected from the group consisting of: plastic, rubber, metal, or other molded material that allows the ends to snap onto or over the cylindrical object.

13 . An apparatus for holding a substantially cylindrical object comprising:
a singular molded structure having a curved face with a concave side that matches the curve of a cylindrical object and is substantially the same height as the cylindrical object, a convex side opposite the concave side, a bottom end protruding outward from the concave side and molded to fit the shape of one end of the cylindrical object, and a top end protruding outward from the concave side and molded to fit the shape of the other end of the cylindrical object; and said molded top and bottom ends being spaced and arranged such that the cylindrical object snaps between the two ends, and the ends pull the cylindrical object into the concave curved face and hold the cylindrical object between the ends and against the face by tension.

14 . The apparatus in claim 13 wherein said singular molded structure is made from a material selected from the group consisting of: plastic, rubber, metal, or other molded material that allows the ends to snap onto or over the cylindrical object.

15 . The apparatus in claim 13 wherein said bottom end contains a raised grip protruding perpendicular from the bottom end that allows the user to leverage said grip to remove a cylindrical object from the apparatus.

16 . The apparatus in claim 13 wherein said top end contains a raised grip protruding perpendicular from the top end that allows the user to leverage said grip to remove a cylindrical object from the apparatus.

17 . The apparatus in claim 13 where the convex side has a flattened spot on the surface.

18 . The apparatus in claim 13 further comprising a fastener attached to the convex side of the molded structure.

19 . The apparatus in claim 18 in which the fastener is a clip to attach to a belt.
